OS, they're out there. Believe me. Check the GARM. You missed a cold front last week. It got down to 95 the other night.
OS...you do anything much in vancouver? if so, how'd ya like it. i would love to go to alaska, sounds great.
Anchorage is AWESOME!!! Seward is tiny, yet quaint. So did you enjoy the 3 o'clock sunlight at 11 at night???
not really outlaw, BUT... i did see a lot of bears. easy comeback. i'll do that. i need something to make me laugh while sitting here at work again. sigh. 95? in houston this time of year? no matter. i've been here in atl for the past two and a half years. it's not as bad. didn't do much in vancouver. just stayed at the fairmont hotel for the weekend there after the cruise ended. GREAT nightlife... more than houston or atlanta. they've on saturday was the first night that they tested out a plan to keep the bars and clubs open past two o'clock until five in the morning. here in atlanta, things usually don't get going until 1:30 to 2:00, so i'm glad to see an open city such as vancouver do this. just went to some of the malls, went on a horse carriage ride through stanley park, and a cable car ride up grouse mountain to see some black bears. vancouver seems to be a lower scale paris... but without the bad weather. it's not a bad thing though. i'd live in vancouver over houston or atlanta ANY day. great place. yep you're right... the sun didn't go down until midnight while on the cruise. i hated that part of it because it made it hard to sleep. sun rises around 5 or so with the sun peaking through the curtains, so i couldn't sleep in. weather was great. not a drop of rain (except a lot of mist in ketchikan) and the temp got to 70 in some places.
thanks. like i said... if i could, i'd move there in a heartbeat. i'm not suprised that the winter olympics are going to be there in 2010. very clean for a port city. the people there are disturbingly nice. so nice that it's pathetic. sat around the hotel outside several times just to chat with some of the workers. didn't know there were rocket fans in vancouver. talked to a couple of people that were talking about some cfl football game that had an exciting ending or something.... i dunno. anyway... what would you have recommended doing while there?
Omega: Did you check out the club scene? Vancouver is a very gay friendly place and, I'm told, the club scene is very good. If you did the horse drawn carriage thing you probably saw most of the downtown sights. Are you in Houston, or Atlanta? I've never been the either, but will hopefully get to both soon. Sounds like you had a good time. There are a few Vancouver Rocket fans around. Grizzly refugees.
yeah...the bc lions beat the toronto argonauts 30-27 on friday...big win. well, i think you did some of the good stuff. grouse mountain is great. stanley park is pretty much a must see...did you get over to eating at the spaghetti factory, thats always pretty good. the carriage ride prob took you all over...so thats good. if you were here for longer, then you would have definately needed a trip up to whistler (kayaking, mountain biking, great village)...but sounds like you got a good taste of vancouver.
Hey 3814: Welcome back. Will you be starting a thread about your experiences in Guatemala? You must have some great stories and observations. Did you get to follow the NBA or NHL from where you were?
Wow....we were in Vancouver on the same day. I also did a float plane trip near the misty fjords, but our trip actually dropped us down into the Khutzeymateen Grizzly bear sactuary (which is just south of the Misty fjords). We jumped from the plane to a zodiac which took us around the inlet to view the bears. We also did the inside passage, but about a week before you, and we did it on a BC ferry which dropped us off on the north end of Vancouver island. We hung out on the island for a week before we took another ferry over to Vancouver on July fourth. We stayed at the Four Seasons in Vancouver, and I remember walking by your hotel several times on Friday. We ate at Kamei Royale Japanese and Shanghai Chinese Bistro that day.....both of them a stone's throw from your hotel. What a small world!
thanks for the welcoming. i could start a thread about my experiences...but i don't really know where to start. i watched a lot of the nhl playoffs...about 2 or 3 games a week. i only saw 2 nba games though. but yeah, i did follow both here and there on the net...wasn't too happy with either champ...hate the devils and hate the spurs...but hey, i hate the nets too.
hey omega, did you hit up the 4th avenue theater in anchorage? just curious. my gf used to work there. its like a dinner/musical theater act. they also run the anchorage bus tours from there. Brian
Well I'd like to use this thread to announce that I'm back from Minnesota. The weather was great, and the 10,000 lakes are all packed with hotties. I had a great time, you have not lived until you have been on a jet ski. things were freaking cool. Not freaking cool was getting stuck in Traffic in Salt Lake City. Damn you Utah, Damn you to Hell... Anyways its great to be back home. looks like I haven't missed much.
Were you up there during the "longest day of the year"? I keep thinking back to that movie 'Insomnia' where Pacino cant fall asleep.....
