"Dawson would not discuss specific trade possibilities. According to sources, Phoenix offered the
Rockets a package that included Anfernee Hardaway, Cliff Robinson and one of the Suns' reserve
centers, likely Daniel Santiago or Ruben Garces.

But the sources said the Rockets quickly turned down that offer, unwilling to commit to the remaining 4
1/2 years of Hardaway's contract, which would have assumed all of the salary-cap space they had
been planning to use this summer to pursue free agents. "

For those who thought that there would be little interst for Olajuwon, this is quite nice for starters.

Glad we turned Penny, though. We already have our resident soft as a pillow player in Cato...

That was probably the only trade anyone was willing to discuss considering the fact that Hardaway is out for the season now.

Jeff, remember that post where Doc said that there was an offer on the table that would´ve been an ASS-KICKER for us, and that the other team pulled it off?

That offer COULDN`T have been this one.

Meaning that offer must´ve been SAR.

It´s time we UP our part of the bargain and go after that one again, if you ask me.

Yeah but atleast when Penny is healthy he is one of the best guards in the league. Cato on the other hand is just terrible all the time. They should include his lazy ass in that deal.

I'd take just Cliff Robinson. Heck, I might take Daniel Santiago, straight up. But the last thing I'd do is take Penny, who not only is going to have missed the entire 2000/2001 season, but missed a significant portion of last year as well. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Hakeem has more minutes left in his playing career than Hardaway does.

If we even considered that trade, then we're idiots not to consider a Big Country/SAR trade. At least Big Country plays every once in awhile.

It's too bad they had to throw Penny in that deal. I would have taken it if it was Cliff and scrubs, etc.

Cliff Robinson??? The guy is softer than the pillsbury doughboy. You think Mo is bad at rebounding? Phoenix can keep him.

Penny when healthy is as good as any 2 guard in the league. Add to that, he can play some SF and PG, and he's dynamite. The problem is, he's never healthy. He's gone back on the IR and is expected to miss the rest of the season. People need to remember that he didn't just injure his knee, but had major surgery (reconstructive?) done on it. He came back a couple of weeks ago and played admirably in limited minutes, but as the Suns have said, the knee is still giving him problems.
