As a player's mind starts to take over their play and their athleticism can back their play than the player is in his prime (C.Webber with Sac vs Golden State) and can play way past their prime because of their mind (Motombo here). If a player never learned to play with their mind and just use their athleticism when their body goes so does their game.

Did SVG cut Smith because SVG's past relations with players like Howard and knew that was best for his team?

We have them both now and life is not that grand at the moment.

I give Harden a pass this game. He may have enjoyed his New Year's Eve too much.

I think Smith cannot get our offensive and defensive schemes so when he is playing with the starters, we can't run any ******* sets because Smith is always in the wrong spot. Can we expect Bev and Ariza to play by ear? Nope! I don't know why Smith doesn't want to drive, he always wants to shoot jumpers. Guys aren't passing to him anymore; only Harden is passing to him.

McHale needs to sit Howard out. Start DMo and Dorsey, let Smith play off the bench with Papa. If we need to recall Capela, please do so. And please try and get Canaan's shooting rhythm back.

 

I'm just gonna leave these here. These are the only ones he got. 27 minutes apart...

 

And that is why D-Mo should be the 3rd Option in Rockets Offense.

It was a pleasure to watch fans here who were so happy about J.Smith...

the only way they can stop demo is by you not posting him up. give white hakeem the bol! i hear some say demo should demand it. but he doesn't have that type of stature among the cornerstones, remember he is just another brick on maury's wall.
besides, some don't listen. i still remember when yao would get visually frustrated waving his hands while mobley and stevie were prancing around with the ball.

 

Just finished watching the game. There's no energy from this team. McHale needs to start DMO at the four. I can't put the blame on Smith. Doesn't seem like he can work.in the paint the way Howard takes it.

 

This is why he should be a starter again. Dmo has a great hook shot and great foot work. Why have come in as a second unit to a guy who is completely different. Things work better when he is on the court.

 

The Pels lead commentator said he chatted with McHale pre-game. Apparently McHale told him Dmo had developed so much he wouldn't sacrifice any of DMo's playing time to another player.

The way he kept on harping on about Josh Smith made me think perhaps Smith's time as starter may end soon.

 

thank god for Dmo, Brewer, Harden, and Terry. These guys bring me back to watching rocket games.

 

Yea, because that is not how competitive franchises operate. One player works really really hard to earn his spot, keeps the team afloat with his play and hustle night in and out, and the other is extremely putrid but gets the nod for being a diva and a good player if you carbon date back far enough.

 

Benching DMO was a terrible game plan. Dude was unstoppable in the post, he was on a hell of a roll.

Smith, being new should have began his Rocket career from the bench and if his play warranted it....eventually moved into the starting role if DMO didn't keep up the pace.

Why did smith get benched after 3 mins last night?

 

Kinda seems like the 4 games we play them this year were also in the agreement for the asik deal..

 

He got 2 quick fouls on Davis.

I feel pretty confident that we'll win this game. I'm glad that our starters will be well rested.

 

This organization is in danger of creeping towards losing a lot of credibility.

The Coach has a level of respect from players but no credibility as a Coach. Morey isn't well liked amongst his peers and other Owners alike.

You can not shake up a team year after year after year and expect to legitimately have cohesiveness and chemistry to win a Championship.

We were fine the way we were, now Morey has disrupted that once again, at some point you have to stop chasing every shiny object because it is shiny.

 

Fine as a playoff team, but not as a contender.
