not only that but if you talk about "effort" he gives enough to be a 20 and 11 player, IF he could hit enough free throws. so whatever amount of effort he gives plus with his injuries you have to take that into consideration. i think pretty great defense and 18.2 ppg and 11.6 rpg is pretty damn good, too bad he really really sucks at free throws because it really would make a big difference.
I think the NBA hates him because he left the Lakers and really hurt the NBAs most profitable franchise. They set him up to be Kobe's Robin (like Gasol and maybe Shaq), but he messed everything up when he left LA. Everyone hated him, especially ESPN. Ever since he left and joined Harden in Houston he has been getting the worst treatment from the refs in his entire career. Orlando also got the second pick in the draft that year and drafted Oladipo. Cleveland got the first pick and screwed it up, but LeBron still returned.
i was just watching dmo posting up vs hornets while bumping agressively into defender a cuople of times then scoring...and i was thinking to myself 'Dwight would be given offensive fouls (if not flagrant) for bumping into defender in a lot lighter way...
He was doing a great job at the beginning of the season pre-injury. Posting amazing MVP-like numbers. Injuries have slowed him down, but I'm sure he'll bring it in the playoffs like he did last year.
2nd best. i'd say he was when the season started cuz of what he did in the playoffs, but he hasnt been the best center this season. he'll go a little spurt then have a 10 and 5 game with no blocks, 5 turnovers. rockets aren't gonna go anywhere w/o dwight howard. he cant just turn it on the playoffs. its been two months now, he needs to show up sooner than later
let him coast as long as he dominates in the playoffs and doesn't cause chemistry/locker room issues in the regular season.
Harden won't and can't last at this pace, at some point he's gotta be given the chance to coast in this long NBA marathon season. Seems Howard has been injured as he was the best Big in the playoffs last year. All I want to see is both Howard and Harden fresh for the playoffs period.
Lmao. Child abuse accusations and Dwight suddenly has a "knee injury"? He most likely didnt wanna answer those questions, especially with LA coming town (they would've had field day with that). Dwight is a very good player. But to me his problems is he doesn't show any fire. If I'm playing Anthony Davis or Marc Gasol, I wanna make sure I'm on my A-game. He doesn't seem to have that competitive edge that most superstars have. He seems content with being that 17 & 12 guy. That's cool. But sometimes we need more from him
These are my sentiments and issues with Dwight as well. I complained of Dwight not playing with an edge that the greats play with. Even with his lack of skill, if Dwight had that competitive edge, he would be comparable to Shaq. That's the very frustrating part about Dwight. That's why in a lot of ways, the p***y label is justified. Other elite players see it and I doubt many elite players would want to play with Dwight if given the choice. I truly believe deep down that Harden just tolerates Dwight at this point.
I'm starting to think certain experienced players and coaches *coughPopcough* don't really see the regular season as anything other than a trial and error/practice session until the post season. Harden is playing out of his mind and is having an MVP type of season, but I do worry about his energy level in May. Are folks really worried about Dwight? Go look at his stats against Portland and feel better. No one should gcare what he looks like right now, we are easing Smith/Brewer into the team as well as D-Mo who is borrowing his touches and post position. R-E-L-A-X.
Why can't you guys like Dwight for himself? He is who he is. He'll never be Shaq or a super elite guy you can rely on night in and night out to carry your offense.
