They certainly don't have to, but I do think there could be a point at the end of January where they have to seriously start considering it. Just depends on whether they are able to finally get a star with all their assets and where they stand in the playoff race.

Kenny Smith is pretty different from Steve Kerr as far as I can remember. Kerr was a prototypical-- and elite level-- spot-up shooter who had just enough PG skills and smarts to contribute when needed in ways other than shooting-- and he wasn't often needed with the likes of Jordan and Pippen on the team. Kenny actually did some stuff off the dribble, creating some of his own shots and assisting teammates.

Pat Beverley is kind of like Steve Kerr on offense. We need somebody to be Kenny Smith-- hopefully a better version, but I'd take Kenny.

Forcing all the other top PGs in the west to actually start playing defense and using up their legs would be big for houston. While giving Harden a breather. Would love Dragic

Not soon. Nothing will happen before the deadline. No insider scoop here, just common sense. Morey will try to buy as low as possible, Dragic or otherwise. Clearly the current roster isn't final.

Just turned over 1/5 of the roster and are trying to incorporate 3 new guys and you want more, more, more RIGHT NOW.

    Simmer down.

Wouldn't be surprised if we sent Papanikolaou, Shved and the NYK 2nd for a "stretch 4" IF we get Dragic. Something like:

    Terry
    DMo
    NOP 1st

    for Dragic

    Papanikolaou
    Shved
    NYK 2nd

    for Channing Frye

    Dragic / Beverley
    Harden / Beverley
    Ariza / Brewer
    Frye / TJones
    Howard / Smith

^^ Not that that's even a feasible/desirable scenario, but Channing Frye has been terrible this season. Already lost his starting job to Kyle O'Quinn.

Had great chemistry with Dragic in Phoenix, and is hitting 42% from 3 on 4.8 attempts per game this year. Maybe you are right, but if that's the case, then we should be able to keep the NYK 2nd.

Maybe we can make a run at O'Quinn. He's a shot blocker that might be able to step in for Dwight when he sits. Price tag might be too high though.

Just spitballing here. We have an obvious need for a big that can shoot and not be a disaster on defense.

I love O'Quinn and think Orlando underutilizes him. He and James Johnson are two guys who blow my mind with how ridiculously productive they can be in limited minutes.

Hey... hey... I have been driving the O'Quinn bus for some time now (or at least just before he started hitting 3's in the pre-season) ;)

I picked him up in fantasy last season out of desperation and he turned out to be clutch AF.

I'm indifferent on the prospect of bringing in Dragic. That being said, wouldn't it be more beneficial from a chemistry standpoint to make all of our moves earlier than later so these guys have time to mesh?

I recognize we have hit a road bump with the learning curves of the new guys, but I think if additional moves were to be made, I think earlier than later would be better from a chemistry standpoint. Then we only have to go through this mess once this year.

Obviously making a move earlier would not bring the best value/return, but if the end goal is Dragic...how much different can a trade package really look between now and Feb?

Morey is not gonna simmer down. And if he's gonna make a move anyway, the earlier the better. Might as well get the adjustment period out of the way early.

And here's one more random name in the news, since we are throwing them out anyways:

    Kevin Love anyone?

Zach Lowe says that, after Blatt, Love is the next one in line as the scapegoat. Cleveland seems in need of both perimeter and interior defense, and just in need of doing something to appease LeBron, so...

Some combo of Houston's defenders and assets (Trevor Ariza, DMo, Jones, New Orleans Pick, Pat Beverley, Kostas Papanikolaou) for Love?

Earlier the better? I'd rather lower the price point.
