Josh looks lost on offense, hopefully with more practice time he will get more familiar with the team.

He needs to stop getting so many touches, he needs to be getting put backs, flashing to the rim, and running the floor.

I will say that his defense has been superb, he almost never gets scored on down low.

Can a brotha play more than 3 games before people denounce him as an abject failure?

He's obviously having trouble adapting to the offense right now. He's thinking way too much and needs to just play! Against the Grizz he played great because he didn't know any of the offense, he just played ball. Once he can play freely without thinking too much, and have a better idea of what's going on out there, things will look much better I believe!

A day off should help I think. If he doesn't adapt, then eventually Dmo will start again. Gotta give it some time though.

First off, he played well in his debut, his second game not as good but he still played D and rebounded. This game he was lack luster bit honestly I think he's looked decent except for tonight. It's been. 3 games only chill out. He went 1-6 and last game like 2-5. He's not jacking up tons of shots. Even howard has low scoring lack luster games. Besides tonight smith always brings good rebounding and defense.

Small sample but Detroit has played great without him. Not to mention the Hawks.

The problem with the whole wait until he has played more than 3 games argument is that he has been this way his entire career, and in the 3 games as a Rocket it doesnt look like anything has changed. Definitely nothing there to even hope for him to change.

    What did you expect?

He is not a good shooter and has questionable shoot selection.

What he does well is defend, pass, block shots and get tough rebounds.

He cost $2,000,000 and can be key defending players like Griffin, LMA and other power forwards.

Haha !!! my girl got in late from work "she's a big rocket fan" she said I see they lost again what did smith do ?

I told her he's like lin you never know what's going to happen when he has the ball in his hand, it can be good or horrible. the funny thing is it's the same when Ariza drives also...

But at least lin could finish at the rim at a high rate when he was here

What is wrong with some people on this board? seriously, it only has been 3 games so far. Not to mention reg season is over rated in the west. Playoffs is where things happen. Getting home court advantage has proven worthless to us for the last few playoffs seaons.

Josh it is what he is, and Morey knew that - we all do. However, We got him next to nothing - NOTHING. He is dirt cheap for one yr contract. This is Josh's contract year if he wish to stay in this league and get a fat long term contract again. He will show his value.

He is no howard, not the next harden, not even our 3rd star yet, but he has the potential and he comes practically free to us. What is not to like about him? Losing 2 games is no big deal, take those games as learning factor in order to improve us.

Hmmm, so you discount his first game and focus on the mediocre second game and the poor 3rd game?

Agreed he's had questionable shot selection his whole career, but he's done a lot of other positive things. You are talking about one of the top FAs two seasons ago. Why discount the solid defense, rebounding and post game that he's shown most of his career?

If the guy plays like crap over the next month, I'm happy to eat my words, but I think this guy is really going to help us once he's had the time to adjust. But he deserves TIME; he deserves more than three games before people declare him a failure.

He was an abject failure long before the Rockets signed him.....that's why a team was willing to pay him 26 million dollars to go away, and they've had their best 2 games of the season immediately following him being kicked to the curb.

Nope if either were dumb they wouldn't have made it so many years in the nba. Only dumb ones are some of these dumb Azz fans.

He played poorly in Detroit. Clearly that didn't work out. No one is saying otherwise. But unlike you and the rest of the Smoove haters, I actually acknowledge the other parts of his game that are strong (as well as the many more years he played before Detroit) as well as the possibility that once he's had time, his rebounding, passing, defense, and low post offense could be useful.

I fully acknowledge the parts of his game that are strong, he's a good rebounder and usually a good defender, also he's good for an occasional highlight reel dunk. Everything else about his game is either bad, or highly questionable.
