We must pull the block. We must get Gary Payton.

I started to have an epiphany... that maybe we shouldn't trade just to trade.

Forget all of that. The Lakers are on the verge of possibly signing Malone and Payton this summer. We have to pull the block. If the Lakers sign Malone and Payton, it's over unless someone Tonya Hardings Malone and Shaq.

My eyes glaze over when I read most of these trade threads... but I can't get over the feeling that Payton is a greedy little b*stard. $4.5M and a ring won't sound as nice as $7-8M to him.

Would the Bucks take Mo straight up for Payton?

We're leaders in the NBA. Don't you guys salute the vehicle that is pulled over for speeding, so that we can continue to drive on? We must take one for the league. We must be that car on the side of the road.

Besides, we can trade Steve for 2 starters or Cuttino + Rice for somebody. Who's with me?

LOL, I hope you're not serious. Trade Steve? Anyways, I doubt GP will sign because he does seem to care more about the money. Also, I'm not sure that Malone really cares about the championship as much as that record. Let someone else take it for the league. Maybe Denver or Miami could offer him a ton of money.

If Malone is realy after the Record, rather than a Championship, then he should stay in Utah! He will be respected by the Jazz and will get the chance to shoot three times as many shots as with the Lakers.
There is no way Peyton comes here, he wants to win a Championship and he likes a big pay day.

I doubt Payton would come to Rockets even in a sign and trade. Rockets are probably not going to be considered contenders till 2004-2005 season.

Money talks. BS walks. GP will not go anywhere for less money.

If Payton goes to the Lakers it means he's not greedy. He's going there to win, not for $. Same goes for Malone. I don't think the Lakers can even offer $5 million for Payton next year. They might do a sign and trade, but if it was about $ Payton would sign with the Bucks and Malone with Utah. The Lakers are still the favorites and those guys want to go there because they believe they can win a title there.

I think we have little to no chance of landing either of those guys. We're not close to a championship. We have to make the playoffs first. People view the Lakers as a sure thing and we're still an uncertain thing. Watch out in a few years though. We'll be back atop the league.

I think you all are ignoring the obvious sarcasm and underlying message in why this thread was posted in the first place. The last line of the post should give it away.

After we get Payton I think we should sign up Karla for the exception and get Stockton as an assisstant.

Then trade CD for Danny Ainge.

That would be my ideal offseason.

    go rockets.

I'm with you. I say if we have the opportunity to do a S&T for either Brand or Jermaine O'Neal or another great superstar, we do it.

Otherwise we have the status quo. Will Steve and Cuttino have sky-high value next year? Or will another mediocre season cause their stock to drop? We have to consider this with Griffin as well.

It absolutely great deal if Rockets can trade Francis for Jermaine O'Neal, that means Houston will be much more closer to Championship games.

BUT, definitely you can't trade Francis for Payton, it wont change Rockets much, and Rockets will become worse and worse when time is ticking, and Payton is being old.
