When we play defense the right way, we look like the class of the NBA. Lately, I haven't seen our team play defense like we did early in the season. I have to think our struggles with winning lately has everything to do with what we're doing defensively. I thought this team was hanging their hat on the defensive end. Now we're taking risks on defense and giving up easy baskets. I think a lot of this has to do with our new players. Do you think this team will learn defensive fundamentals again and abide by them or go back to playing the type of ball we played last year? I know what we are capable of doing and I'm not seeing it. This is sickening. I hope you're sick too.
It's almost as though they breathed a sigh of relief when they started getting guys back from injury. When they were shorthanded, they knew they had to dig in and defend for 48 minutes to have a chance. It's human nature in a way, but they need to get back to that. I'm not liking what I'm seeing out there effort wise. Looks a little like last year at times.
I think it's been at least 7 games, but maybe as many as 11. I wish this was a knee jerk reaction, but I've been waiting to say this. Our defense is subpar compared to what we were.
I cringe every time I see the other team get set to run a P'n'R. Our team is clueless to stop it. You can see it all unfolding. This guys is going to bounce pass it between Player A and player B to his rolling big man for an uncontested layup. This is fundamental skills we're talking about it. We don't often get easy points like this on offense.... but more often than not a team scores easily against us on the P'n'R. This has been happening a lot recently.
Yup, it seems McHale is taking over and JB Bickerstaff is riding backseat..our offense has carried us lately and we will drop off fast in defensive efficiency if we keep this up. Part of it is Dwight who is not locked in and Beverley who is going through some emotional bull****, because he's fouling way too much, out of control way too much and not contributing much.
Yes. Layups are everywhere. The Rockets LOST 2 of there last 5 games. We are not a good defensive team anymore. We are scoring a little more, but I don't like it.
Dwight seems a little slow footed on defense this season. I totally believed all that off-season hype about him being 100% the athlete he used to be, and that may be true when it comes to his max vertical, but I'm not seeing it at all in terms of lateral quickness and how much ground he's covering (or lackthereof). Marc Gasol's domination over Dwight certainly didn't help to calm these thoughts, and I'm not sure all that stuff he said about bone-on-bone in his his right knee has even hit me yet because that's pretty serious stuff if true. I'm worried... I'm not the not the only one, right?
