Those are just the circumstances of the teams, not the merits of an MVP. The rules of the game have built value to the QB position far above any other position but if the alleged MVP isn't even the clear best player at his own position then he's not an MVP IMHO.
He gets play but not the play that he would were he in GB and their tiny market. If it was a popularity vote then he might have a chance but its sportwriters. Here in Houston we cant even depend on Pancakes to vote for our guy.
Not sure about that. Rodgers bring that swagger my brother. He plays like he's the best player in the league. With this O-line and Demarco, shoot give us the Super Bowl already. Romo has been great this year, but I'm still not completely sold. He cost us a few games this year too. This year's great season is based primarily on Murray and the O-line, and everything else worked off of that.
That's not a "sexy market" problem... that's a fat-ass sportswriters problem. Watt is easily the most marketable non-QB player the NFL has right now... hell he's likely 3rd overall behind Rodgers and Peyton.
Nah, its hype. Adrian Peterson won it by having a historic comeback season, and his team wasn't all that much better than the Texans.
It sure is. Last non-QBs to win the MVP have made playoffs. AP 2 years ago at 10-6 as wild card LT in 06 winning division Alexander in 05 winning division
No, if the criteria is wins then the team with the most wins would have the MVP. Twelve teams make the playoffs. MVP votes for Joe Flacco and Andy Dalton!
I said wins are the MAIN criteria, not the only one. If Joe Flacco and Dalton's teams had the most wins in the league, then yea they will have MVP votes. But they don't. Watts have the stats that help bolster his case for the lack of wins. He will finish #2 despite his team not making the playoffs. If The texans made the playoffs, Watt would have most likely win the MVP. Pretty simple formula.
Cowboys vs. Patriots Super Bowl, I'll be rooting for double annihilation with no winner. Oh god, their fans are even more unbearable.
So if Watt makes the playoffs via Cleveland winning, he's automatically the MVP? Its doubtful. The voters aren't that idiotic or formulaic... like I said earlier, Rodgers won this award 6 weeks ago, and merely had to "not lose it" to close out the season.
Yes, Watt would have won the MVP had the Texans made the playoffs. Making the playoffs in the NFL is huge. This isn't like in the NBA where nobody cares if you're the 7th or 8th seed. AP wouldn't have won his MVP that year had the Vikings not gotten the wild card.
Making the playoffs is an accomplishment... just saying that the Texans making it as a 6 seed wouldn't have automatically vaulted him over Rodgers, who hasn't done enough to "lose" the award that was pretty much bestowed to him 6 weeks ago. And as it is, wins are not the "main" criteria... its part of the equation, but you need to have everything else as well (stats, dominance, value, "it").
Wow. Suh might be the dumbest and dirtiest player in the league. Amazing that he would try this silly stuff again; I hope he gets fined and suspended.
I like the way the media can nit pick a play that in no way affected the game and with Suh's history yeah he did it on purpose but it wasnt blatant and does it warrant all the attention? How about some of that attention when Savage got hit low and ending season with a no call?
How is it a nit pick? He's seen standing on an opposing quarterback's injured body part in plain view, and clearly puts his entire body weight into it. He's a repugnant person.
Did you watch the Arizona game? The offense was a disaster without Romo. I feel confident that Randle/Dunbar would be just fine for a couple of games given the offensive line. Weeden not so much...
