Houston I like to see the rockets sign Posey on the MLE, cause there is no freeagent out there who has posey potential at cheap. Once rices contract is up we can promise him a nice contract for 2-3 years. But the deal is if i was les give up on the JO,sheed, payton thoughts cause its hard to do with the CAP ROOM we got which is basicly -0. But if i was Les i would consider a 3 for 3 trade. I Searched the league for a small forward,Point Guard, and a Backup PF. Look for a trade that would help both teams and make some sence. I kept coming to conclusion that Houston Needs to Trade with Toronto. Trading Mobley Taylor Cato(would be great in the east) Norris They need to goto a team who could use these players with there talent. Basicly starting them all. I say that if we got Antonio Davis Morris Peterson Mamadou N'diaye for these 3 players. Its a even trade. Makes total good sence and would make each team much better. With Toronto getting Bosh it makes sence they would pull this move. Look at Carter/Mobley, Bosh would give the Raptors 2 solid stars, plus bosh who could be the next Garnett, instead of just Carter being the only offensive statement!. Yao/Francis being the stars for Houston. But with a team of Yao/Griffin/Davis they would just rip the league in rebounds and blockshots. Davis coming of the bench. Giving Houston Davis = A solid Vet PF/C the rockets need. Rockets could use Davis at 30+mpg a night backing up Griffin and Yao instead of being a starter for toronto. Morris Peterson could come in easy starting at sf, which gives NackBar the duties at Backup. Peterson could be as good as Odom in a 2/3 years, he has alot of upside to his game. Mamadou N'diaye would be a backup who has similar game as Cato, but not as good. Rockets could sign Charlie Ward to the vets since JVG, and Ewing are here. Sounds good. I would even throw mooch in as a extra with the trade above. Just to seal the deal. Toronto They have a good team in Alvin Willams Cuttino Mobley Vince Carter Bosh/Taylor Kelvin Cato A good trade for both teams. I think it shakes up the rosters on both teams and makes each team maybe 5-10+ games better as in winning. Im sure Les wants alittle change which he said there would be after a non-playoff season. Which this 7 players trade is what both teams are looking for.
I like the trade only if Alvin Williams is included. That way the Rockets get their vet point guard to make up for Francis incomptence at point and they get a vet power forward to compliment Yao.
Charlie Ward can now sign the vet this season. He might want to join his old coach and freind Ewing, and help the rockets. Hes more of a vet than Alvin is. PS. Posey would be are starting 2!
We don't have to use the MLE on Posey, we can sign him to as much money as we want since we own his Bird rights, so we can use the MLE on one or more other players while obtaining Posey. Letting Rice's contract expire doesn't give is any additional cap room, remember Steve's max deal goes into effect next year. Now on to the Toronto trade... you say cap room is important, but you say trade for Antonio Davis? The guy is 35 and still has two years left on a huge contract. Morris Peterson, I'd rather have Mobley, Peterson has a nice shot, but I'll pass. Mamadou N'diaye? I wouldn't want him, but if the Rockets do he's a free agent so no trade is needed.
no way, if you have a chance two get a starting 1 like Williams so Francis can move to the 2, you get it done. plus we'll still need to sign a guy like Charlie or Barry to scoot Moochie down the bench. I love the trade if Williams is involved.
Sorry but that trade makes no sense at all to me. Antonio Davis is to old and too small to play back up center in the west. Peterson is not much better than Posey and I really have nothing worth saying about Ndiaye except ??????. Griff would start? Has he shown he has the talent to start? Not in my eyes, and until he improves his game and gets stronger he is a second stringer with some potential (although that potential will dimish severely if he does not show more this season than last). If we make a trade it should be to get a quality four (one that can play both sides of the ball). Either Taylor or Griff, one would likely be a part of the trade, can back up that player. The trade you suggest does nothing for the team nor does it have any big name to bring in more people to the new arena.
i'd like a trade with toronto. but i don't think we need peterson. i would do a trade like: cato moT mooch rice for davis williams lenard
Look at it from this perspective: Davis has 2 yrs left on his contract. He can come in and start 1 or 2 years which will allow the Rockets to wait on Griffin and give him the time he needs to mature before he can accept the starters role. And assuming Alvin WIlliams is in the deal, that will allow the Rockets to move Stevie to the shooting guard and acquire a quality 3rd guard like Barry via freeagency. three key new additions: Davis, A. Williams, Barry. whats not to like?
This is certainly a trade idea. It is the making sense part that fails. You are trading 2 starters and ou most valuable backup for a PF that will be mediocre in the Western Conference and 2 players that will either be coming off the bench, or lucky to even crack the rotation. If you are going to trade valuable players like Mobley, and then throw in our whole bench, try to get something good in return.
In another thread people were yelling "NO" to the idea or signing 33-year-old Horry for veteran minimum, and in this thread, the proposal involves picking up 35-year-old Davis for $12 mil a year for three years! I would rather sign Horry straight up, even for $3 mil, than doing this trade.
So in our backcourt we replace a star sg with another imcompotent pg who doesn't know whether to shoot or pass?
