Somewhat like Batman, I'm planning a move. But my idea is to take my home/computer-base business on the road in an RV and see the rest of America.

Does anybody know of anybody doing this. My biggest concern is 24/7 high bandwidth internet access.

    Any response will be appreciated!

ps. just another note to thank you guys who responded to my "Days Inn" tread. I've sent out a detail description of the event to everybody I could think of. Fingers are crossed.

Little background: My family bought a motorhome in 1997 and traveled in it at LEAST once a month around the state (Colorado) and country in the summers. However, when my father passed away last August, my mom and I decided it was too painful to have around so we sold it. So I have about 5 years of RVing experience.

Pretty much any RV park has some sort of internet connection, that's not a problem. However, the best hting that you can do is to pick up a guide book. I think it's the "Good Sam" book. It's the size of a phone book and has every trailer park in the country, along with rankings. Obviously, you have the stereotypical parks, but if you follow the rankings, there are some that look like national parks. A lot of times, since the internet is as big as it is now, they even list what the internet connection is like.

What places around the country are you interested in going to? If you want, I can definately send some recommendations on GORGEOUS parks, especially in the Colorado/Utah area, and the Seattle area (we went there 3 times in it).

There are lots of ideas to think about like lake hoping across America. But being your basic beach bum, my first thought was to just start in S.Padre Island and travel the coast until I get to the New England states. Then cross country through our northern neighbors to Washington, then down to San Deigo and back to Texas across those two "most excellent" states Arizona and New Mexico.

The idea is to stay in a place for a month...or the duration of a long project and really get to know the place and then move on. Having the freedom to go anywhere sort of negates any planned stops.

Of course your suggestion of Colorado and Utah sounds great. Again, being free to go mobile really unties my hands to when and where I can go.

Do these sites have high bandwidth? I ask becuase some of my project are heavy...up to 10 megs...not in general but you get the idea.

Thanks for the "Good Sam" book idea...I'll be looking for it.

Damn, I want to go. My wife won't let me buy a self contained rv or quit my job.

Now here is a poster that makes me regret my miserable lot in life.:(

Funny, if you have a wife and kids, I am most envious of YOU!

Although I have the freedom now, I regret not having a wife and kids...although I did have 3 wives during my long 10 year tenur as a bartender...(to include that large German Beer Garden (Bavarian Inn?) and a place called The Parlor in Montross)

I guess you just gotta make good with what you have.

What's interesting is how my whole family and all of my friends insist I do this...like they are trying to live a life they always wanted vicariously through me.

Maybe I'll get hugely lucky and find that wonderful woman who likes to travel-- and better know Photoshop or Powerpoint:D --in an RV down the road...

Honestly, I am not 100% sure that places have high bandwith, but I'm betting if you get one of the nicer parks, and there are some seriously nice ones, then you will be able to find it there.
