I'm not extremely happy with the S5 so far. My charging flap that is supposed to make the phone waterproof broke off in the first 2 weeks, now my charger port is all dingy and dirty. Battery life is great until you play some juice-zapper like Candy Crush. Not to mention I have various video playback issues. The phone doesn't support seamless video playback and often freezes and reboots on me when there is any sort of embedded video on a webpage. Kind of wishing I would have waited for the Note 4.
Thanks again for the help talking me through my departure from The Cult. Next issue...and I'm not even sure this is the place, but y'all are so good at this. I got the Galaxy S5. So far, almost everything is great. I was able to get one for $50 with the contract extension. There's one major issue: group texts with multiple iPhone users. I cannot figure out exactly what's happening and I've done a bit of googling and poking. I can start a group text with an iPhone 4 user and another Galaxy S5 user. I can get responses from each of them without issue. I can text (my ex-wife*) individually to an iPhone 6 and get responses without issue. I can start a group text with an iPhone 4, iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 users and get responses from all without issue. I can start a group text with an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 6 user. They can see my texts and respond, but I do NOT get them. Ever. I've tried multiple times. Does anybody have any idea what's happening? More importantly, does anybody know how to fix the issue? Thanks in advance for your help. *This is important as I will be needing to communicate with this person/iPhone 6 in group texts regularly for co-parenting.
Texting on Android was a huge mess for me. MMS was so terrible as pictures would never come through correctly, if at all. Hangouts was so bad as well. Glad to be on iOS now.
Already did that. I also disabled the iMessage before cutting my iPhone service. So... Still can't get group texts with iPhone users. I'm super bummed. I'm afraid I'm going to have to rejoin that awful Cult just so I can communicate with all my friends and family. Apple wins? Gross.
Good choice going with the S5. If you touch a Note, you'll definitely buy it lol. Happened when I bought the Note 2,3,and 4. As for the group text issue... Double check settings in the messaging app you're using. If that doesn't work download Textra (great app) in the playstore, better than the stock app. PM me if you have any questions.
From your experience, is the Note 4 worth upgrading from the Note 3? If so, exactly why or why not? I planned on sticking with my Note 3 but I'm open-minded.
I got a used G3 two months ago after owning a Nexus 5 for a year. This is the best phone I've ever owned. The battery is great and for me a huge upgrade over the Nexus 5 Love the form factor and the 5'5 inch screen.
Build quality is premium... The screen. Battery life. The one handed grip and operation for a phone this a size. Touchwiz is intuitive
I loved my Galaxy S5 for a while but recently it started resetting itself. It will do it randomly here and there when i am in the middle of something. Very frustrating.
it's either a rogue app that's causing it. I'd go backwards and start uninstalling the apps you installed since the issue started happening. Also I know it was common on the S3's but the power button would get stuck after long usage and reset the phone because it thought you were doing a hard reboot. You could try not using the power button to turn on the phone for a few days and use the home button instead to see if that might be the issue.
Note 4 is Band 12 capable which means you'll be able to actually have coverage in areas where TMobile has had building penetration issues. I just started noticing Band 12 here in Minneapolis. TMobile's Band 12 is part of the 700 mhz block of spectrum that Verizon and AT&T use. It's nice to finally have coverage in parking garages and basements. The unfortunate thing is that TMobile doesn't have a nationwide license for the 700a block of spectrum but it does have a license for DFW, Houston, Austin and San Antonio (along with the areas that surround those cities). With that said, TMobile announced that all new phones next year will come with Band 12 capable radios so there's no real reason to rush.
