Shandon and Mo look pretty damn solid to me.
Enough with the SAR/Webber speculation. Here is my suggestion based on CD's comments in the Chronicle.

    1. Keep Dream for the remainder of the season
    2. Sign Shandon and Mo to long term contracts
    3. Use the cap room we have to sign a big man who can get you 10-10 (i.e. Marc Jackson)

The key IMO is creating team chemistry. Bringing in a bunch of new faces is not what this team needs. We all know what the Rockets can do when they play together. We saw this last night (hell even Cuttino had a few assists). Keep the faith in who we have, resign Mo and Shandon, and lets get a big man who can be our Center for the future.

I don't think we'll be able to sign Shandon and Mo to long term contracts. We have to hope that Shandon doesn't opt out and waits until 2002 to get his money. That way we sign Mo (if he continues this excellent play) and possibly a third-tier free agent big man.

RM95 you think Shan would opt out? Or does he want to play elsewhere? I think he is a big key to the future of our franchise. I cant tell if he likes Rudy and the team or not.

Yeah--if we have to sign Shandon AND Mo this offseason then there's not going to be room for anything else. I know Shandon's playing really well of late, but I'd still rather pick up a 2 or 3 in the draft as opposed to signing him to a big deal if he's looking to seriously cash out...if it's going to take more than 5-6 mil a year then I say let him walk.

Well, it doesn't look like he'll be here, even if we want him (at the right price, of course)...there are more teams with capspace next year than there are players who deserve that capspace. Atlanta, for instance--who are they going to get if they don't resign Mutombo? They'll have room enough to sign Shandon to a much larger contract than the Rockets will be able to, especially if Mo ends up getting the max. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these teams with space wait till the following year to use it, so you never know...

Drewdog--I wouldn't quite call Mo selfish--he did have the opportunity to sign with Toronto for more (granted that was in the hopes of cleaning up this year)

Anybody in the NBA is going to do what's best for their future...if that's your take then everybody in the league is selfish...hell, everybody in the world is...

Uh, I think C-Web(Kenny Thomas), Kato(Collier)frontline will be enough to push Rockets over the top. You don't want to miss out on a NBA superstar because Mo had a big game last night. CWeb put 31 on the Twins Tower the last time they played. CWeb can run the fastbreak with the best as well as giving Houston some needed inside presence to give Francis/Mobley more space. He can also hit the medium range jumpshot with the best of them. It's a no-brainer. I wonder if we can sign Shandon to a long term deal.

If anyone honestly thinks we can land C-webb
    dream on.

    1. We cant afford him
    2. There are too many other teams that want him
    3. I think he wants to play closer to home

Also, the reason I called Mo a little selfish is the fact that he demanded all of that $$$$$ last year.... and got no takers on the extremely large salary he wanted.

What is the Feeling around the league on SHAN?
Atlanta just gave up jim Jackson.
They need another SG/SF? [I know they
    \need everything] but they won't be a
    contender for a while.

I just don't know who would want Shan
    enough to out bid us
[DON'T GET ME WRONG I THINK SHAN IS ALL THAT
    BUT HE *IS* UNDERRATED]

Of all the speculation that would have to be the most realistic and beneficial.

Shandon will likely opt out. Why wouldn't he? He stands to gain a larger contract quicker.

So does everyone assume Shan wont wear Rocket PJ's next year?? It seems like that is the consensus around here.

Also, how much will it take to keep Mo.... Is he going to be selfish like last year?
