you have a chance to get an all nba pg in his prime, and put him next to the best sg in the league. but you want you keep dmo because he all of a sudden has talent to be a star after finally contributing for about 2 weeks. its not about faith. if you have the opportunity you have to take it. in case you haven't noticed houston is nearing the point of going all in.
if it works out like cyberx reported then I'm all in. I didn't hesitate to jump on board when i read we may end up with both dragic and smith. i love dmo but come on... I want proven talent on the team, not "he could be an allstar in the future". Dwight's window is closing and we need to win a championship now
I have..... Its a bittersweet situation to be in. The pieces are all mostly there but we all know something is missing. Is Dragic the answer? Removing one piece and adding another from a lego set may weaken other areas of the structure..... Adding the right piece will make it stronger.... Adding vs Swapping.... Ill go with Adding... Lets add Smith and see what happens...
Dmo isn't untouchable, but trading him for dragic + the NOP pick is way over paying. Unless you're talking dragic for dmo straight up?
Exactly, it's not like we're going anywhere in the west with our current line up (probably 2nd round at best). Need to roll the dice and go for it.
I'd take Dragic for DMo trade. I'd rather not trade DMo, but if that were the only option to get Dragic, then yes I'd go for it, provided we get another big in that was more than capable of replacing what we lose in DMo based on his recent output.
Per Woj, Dwight and Josh dated when they were both children in Atlanta and have remained friends. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...gest-suitor-to-sign-josh-smith-193133772.html
Stoked imagining a motivated J Smoove on the squad. Hopefully we're all making this face as soon as he clears waivers.
Looking at advanced stats, if you cut out all of his mid range shots, his FG% become a whole lot more palatable, even this year when he 's been down across the board. 2% of FGA are from 10-16 feet, while 26% (!!!! ) are between 16 feet and the three point line. Compare with T Jones who takes 5% from 10-16, and 10% of his shots from 16 -3 pt., or Ariza, who is at 5% and 6% respectively. Smith shoots 18% from 10 - 16 and 35% from 16- 3 point. He'll still take too many l 3 pointers at a crappy FG%, but if he buys into the "3 pointer or lay up" philosophy, he should look better on offense.
Rudy Gay was ridiculed just as much as Josh Smith, but he's been a much improved player since joining the Kings. Same thing could happen with Smith here
If not mistaken, Smith has a good solid relationship with Calvin too. I remember on his show on ESPN radio Calvin had Smith on and they seemed like good friends
I went through a range of emotions over this potential Josh Smith nonsense. At first I was confused Then I was angry Now I have accepted fate
Hell yeah he can! Unfortunately him can miss them too and at a much higher rate than any coach would like.
Agreed. It's more difficult to rate a player on a bad overall roster Vs a talented one. Based on Morey's philosophy by upgrading players, Smith is an improvement on both Dorsey and Black. So hell yeah!
cyberx posted that he heard that if Houston lands Smith, they will consider trading DMo as a part of a package for Dragic. Kind of make sense, if they think that Smith is going to perform at the level close to where he was in Atlanta. If Smith is capable of taking the minutes that DMo is playing now, the team's bigger need is for a perimeter playmaker other than Harden.
if i remember correctly i saw a shot chart that showed he is 0% from one corner and 20% from the other
