I am guessing Ariza is a bit worn out at this point and don't have his legs under him. He has been playing way too many minutes and often at PF with Kostas out. Hopefully getting Kostas back and having Brewer and maybe even Shved to play some wing minutes will help Ariza get some rest.
Ariza will be fine. He's been very good defensively and should start hitting shots again as his minutes go down with Brewer's addition. Lots of PT + being forced to take shot out of his comfort zone = tired legs + lots of misses. Hard to get into a rhythm that way.
He is the same guy - just a little older and wiser, I agree he needs more rest. He shoots too much for my taste - needs to be more selective. DD
His release is all arm and really slowed down since the beginning of the year. Obviously his legs are gone right now, still helping out though doing other things namely defense and rebounding.
He's still incredibly streaky. Career lows for Ariza this year in shooting. Improvement of his shot selection will help.
McHale needs to manage Ariza's minutes, and limit him to about 33 mpg per night. That should help keep him fresh and more efficient on the offensive end. They can't keep having Ariza log 39 minutes per night for an entire season.
Looking forward to seeing if his minute reductions because of the Brewer addition will help improve his 3pt %
i think he is getting too tired in the legs from playing so much and it is effecting his lift on his shots. defensively though, her has been awesome i think with Brewer coming in, he will get more rest and get his shot back on line
hes way too much shooting over hands he should just feed dmo in the post and shoot open 3s...also stop cutting and slashing ariza just feed dmo
Him & Terry both do this: pulling up for a 3 in transition. I'm ok at times with Terry doing it, but unless you're a Korver this just seems like a wasted possession to me, and a major flaw in Morey's gameplay. The transition 2 is a much higher percentage, probably even true percentage, than the 3. Hopefully Brewer helps here.
Ariza is not better than Parsons. He is definitely nowhere near better offensively and his defense doesn't make up for his offensive shortcomings. I've sent some elves to look for his jump shot cause it is MIA. - Santa
cant believe no one said this yet - anyone else shocked at how bad ariza has gotten? lol nice of him to donate so many brick houses to charity lmao
I don't know why folks are surprised about this... at the time Ariza came here to replace Parsons, folks believe that Parsons was better offensively, Ariza better defensively, and Ariza was a cheaper contract. At the start of the season Ariza was shooting lights out, so folks were happily pointing to what a steal he was. Now that his shooting has dipped to normal (if one believes last year was a contract year), then what we are getting is what we should have expected. Hopefully, with less PT his numbers will adjust upwards again. But what we initially expected should still be true.
His shooting woe started after 6 games into the season. If he got so tired to point it's affecting his shots after just 6 games, imaging at the end of the season.
