We trade Hakeem for Howard and then next year we sign Webber and they'll be back playing together again!

"Listen to the rythm of the fallin' rain,
    Telling me just what a fool I've been . . ."

I think it's fairly obvious what's going on here. Look at Doc Rocket's posts, talking about women, breaking up and traumatic events or posting short statements that seem to harken to a happier time as if he had a pretty bird that sung a marvelous song and the bird has now flown away, leaving him forlorn.

Doc's ladyfriend has left him, and the loss has driven him out of his everlovin' mind. In his sadistic, half-mad ravings Doc Rocket has decided to torment us all.

    Or not. [IMG]

hottoddie, you read my mind about the KG thing. I'm sure it's all wishful thinking, but damn it was fun!

No way Miami would give us Grant and Mason...I wouldn't want Mason anyway. I think Brian Grant is the most underrated player in the game though, and he would be nice but I don't see it happening. Miami wants a C for a year, but they're not going to give up the rest of their frontcourt w/ it.

Well, someone in chat, Rocketball to be exact, just mentioned that Hakeem is no longer in a Rockets promo before tipoff. According to him it usually says Francis, Olajuwon, Mobley, and Anderson. Tonight it was changed to Francis, Taylor, Mobley, and Anderson.

Maybe just because he's injured...but you never know. [IMG]

Continuing to piece the possible trade... Langhi comes into a game before Bullard... NIKEstrad notices this one...

So could we now have a Hakeem + Bullard + maybe Shandon deal (still not sold on Shandon, though).

wattsupdogg, if we trade Hakeem for Howard, we have no cap space to sign Webber. Howard's deal is 16 million for at least 2 more years.

I have to go back to what Vince and Achebe said ( I actually thought of this before I came back and read their posts). We are not going to get 16 million worth of players we can use for Dream. Maybe Rudy and CD know we aren't going anywhere this year and they are going to release Dream so he can sign with a contender for the minimum. It doesn't help us one bit to just release Dream outright, but it could help Dream. Do we owe him that if it's what he wants?

I think at this point, everyone's going to be disappointed w/ the trade... no matter what happens.

Can we like release Dream and then resign him for a lower contract? forgive me if it's a dumb question but I'm not knowledgable in that department. Anyways, here's another one of my scenarios:

    Rockets send to Wizards:

    Hakeem
    Shandon

    Wizards send:

    Jordan (comes out of retirement)
    Howard

    That'd be sweeeet. [IMG] Next?

    ------------------
Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!

Didn't Doc say Achebe was on the right track? Keeping cap space?
Sending Cato to Chicago, maybe? Cato + Drew, renegotiated, equals #1 draft pick this year?

    Achebe sounds tired and depressed.

I didn't want to be the one to expose the deal but here it is. 25 million, 10 year deals for Venson Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton.

    Aelliott,

You're right about waiving players, of course. Why ask Socratic questions? I have one for you,

If Hakeem clears waivers like Thanos suggests(which he mathematically must if waived), he gets to choose any team he wants at the pro-rated minimum, right, just like a free agent can choose any team. What prevents us from planning ahead and finding who wants him, then forcing an unbalanced (talent-wise) trade with the team he wants to play for as a condition of waiving Hakeem? Nothing by the rules as I see it, like the Anthony waiver as an unwritten condition of the Pippen trade. But, do you think we will be successful forcing such a favorable trade. Like Rogers for a rookie on the team who wants Hakeem.

Guys, put down RealGM, if we waive Dream, no one has to pick up his salary. There is no need for the complicated salary matching that's being done here. Question is: can we successfully force a bench player for rookie favorable trade as condition of the Dream waiver!!!

Has anyone seen my Invisible Rabbit?

Here's a really tough one for you Aelliott:

Does a player who clears waivers retain Bird rights? Just curious!

We have a winner! Rodman to sign for the $1M veteran's exception.

It also follows with Doc's "maybe good maybe bad" post and the "$1M vs. $100,000" post, and the "IMMEDIATE vs. immediate" post.

    Congrats, Art.
