Man, I remember when I was a newb, my transition was smoooooth. I didn't try and make a big splash, hell, I didn't even start my own thread until I had been a member for a few months. Anyways, newbs who act like jackasses need to take their abuse and like it!
like hell he is!! j/k manny, you know we like you. just don't ever make me listen to any of your music
I used to just read the NBA and ROckets forums and not post, for like the first yr or so i only had acouple of posts. more like 2 yrs. then I started to post when I went to college. I never used to visit the Hangout etc. BUt now the GARM forum is so bad, all clogged up with pointless polls etc, that I barely go to it anymore. I now go to the hangout, to either the BBS hangout section of the Astros section...
The trick is not to aggravate anyone or say anything controversial until...eh, about a 100 posts. I remember my first post...it was a question about the 2000 draft. Ah, those days as a seventeen year old.
I know, I've been reading the site since 2002 and I didn't start posting heavily until just recently. Like people have said, it's good to just see what everything's about and then start posting.
holy cow, i just read your signature. maybe i should say, instead I only fear the opinion of sparkle burp and grummett.
you say that, but you've never seen me in an Afro wig wearing extra buttons. I can be more than just "dorky."
I remember when I was a newbie, I took a lot of yapping at, You just have to take on the chin like a man sometimes and stick to your guns, eventually people will embrace you like family...
Shoot I been round since late 99 and registered early 00. The key to bein a GOOD newbie is lurking and figuring out how the site works, who to suck up too , and where to get a free post. That's how we did it back in my day. But, after 01 I sorta dozed off and with moving different cities and well, growing up, I lost touch with the BBS. Or else, I would'a been right up there with 5000+ posts. It's all good, I'm getting back in the flow slowly.
Yeah, I guess some hazing is to be expected, since there are some cyber-greybeards on this board. I say don't take any abuse off of anyone, because when folks think they can push you around..... you are dead meat.
The only n00bs are the ones who don't know what net etiquette is. I was one, but my generation's n00b was a lot smarter then the next gen's.
