Same suns insider on the situation: If I didn't make it clear earlier we told the Rockets no. But they offered two trade scenarios to get Dragic. And one three team trade. We rejected them. No trade.
I'm sorry, but why would Papa's injury delay anything? I'd think Papa would be worth more than Brewer. I can see a later trade of Papa if the return was right, but not for Brewer.
Right and they're getting a draft pick in return. I'd think that is worth something to a team that's not going to the playoffs. Why is having "too much injuries" deterring them from moving Brewer? They're not going to compete for a playoff spot this year and this is a year for them to get Wiggins, Lavine, etc. playing time to get acclimated to the NBA game Saunders is either trying to be PC about the situation or is in straight denial regarding his team wanting to compete. Brewer is an expiring contract. If the Wolves and Saunders think that they can get a good player in return for Brewer then they're sorely mistaken.
He high bounces and then his hand is under the ball stopping it's motion and he takes a few more steps before he finally gathers it with two hands and takes his two steps. He takes a couple of steps while the ball is frozen at one level - that's a carry. Nothing like the Chris Paul example mentioned.
Meh. Brewer fits as a guy that would slightly upgrade our bench, and could still be flipped later in the year.
Scenario #1- Capela+Llull+2nd rounder Scenario #2- TPE+2 2nd rounders...... No way PHO turns it down if we realize that this is the juncture to overpay a bit. Capella+Canaan+NOP Pick+future first is fair.
Brewer plays SG, not SF. Pretty sure this will cut into Harden's / N. Johnson's / Terry / Cannon minutes, not Pop. We need a solid backup for Harden in the worst way. If all it takes is the TE and a 2nd rounder, then sure. Also, he can't shoot the 3, but his mid range game is solid. Hey, we can use some diversity
What? He can't opt out in the middle of the season But barring a serious injury, he almost certainly will after this season.
Your points are all valid and Brewer will be a welcome addition to the roster. Wondering who will the team waive to make room for Brewer IF the trade goes through?
Well......now you're talking about what he's worth in trade. Not his floor game. So let's consider it. He's essentially an expiring contract. He's going to opt out because he wants to play for a contender, not be stuck in cold Minnesota on a losing team. So...Brewer is leaving Minny. It's just a matter of when and how. Knowing this....what team would want to trade for Brewer? Besides a possible contender. Would a rebuilding team like Philly or Orlando want to give up assets to acquire Brewer, knowing he wanted to get out of a losing situation and play for a contender? Is a rebuilding team going to be willing to overpay Brewer in free agency to get him to stay? No and no. So turn to the contending teams.....what're they going to be willing to give up. Is Brewer worth burning a first rounder for? Nope. If some team is willing to give Minny a first for him the deal would have already been consumated. His trade value is a second rounder, perhaps 2 second rounders,....and then throw in a marginal player. I have no idea what Terrence's trade value is at this time but it's probably relatively low. Frankly, I wouldn't give up Terrence for Brewer. I'd give up 2 second rounders and Dorsey though. I do know this. Morey won't overpay for Brewer. By the way, I think the trade is already agreed to. They're just waiting until Friday to execute in hopes of merging the Brewer trade with another trade that will give us greater overall assets back.
It's true that Brewer can't shoot, but he can slash and finish fairly well. McHale has said that we need more north-south guys and Brewer would be just that. I'm not in love with the idea of acquiring him, but if he comes at very little cost then, I mean, why the hell not? We all want Harden's minutes reduced; this is a way to do it.
