Stumbled across something in ESPN.. and i think it should dispell the pot-smoker rep of Lamar, of course i'd like him on the team.. but i don't know how the restricted free agent could get to houston

    http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/spears_marc/1575290.html

"The Denver Nuggets are an organization on the rise because there are a lot of moves they can make," Clippers restricted free agent forward Lamar Odom said. "A lot of teams can't make these moves, but they want to make their teams better. I know (the Nuggets) are going to make their team better."

"It's not only because of the money that they have. It's about where the organization is going," Odom said. "When we went to play the Nuggets (last season), I saw the coaches working out players hard. And this was before the game. So I know what direction they want to go. They want to make their team better. They want to win. I think that's the big difference. If you're a free agent, you can see that and decipher that. And as a free agent, you think you can help their organization because they want to help themselves."

side note: he does seem slightly obsessed with the nuggets.. though i don't think he'd knock back houston if the price was right

How does that dispell the pot smoker rep??? That is not a reputation, it is a fact. Nothing will ever change that. I don't see how the article helps that situation.

Also, Odom might be willing to come here for the MLE, but the Clippers will surely match it. So basically, there is not much chance that Odom will sign with us straight up.

When players say it's not the money, it's the money.

Yeah it is a fact but how long does a fact hang around for?.. a long-term reputation has came from that fact.. IMO it seems to be that a poster seems to bring up everytime there is a trade proposal or signing involving odom.. I think he's more focussed now

Also if money is involved.. he still has to deal with the hard-working habits..

Being focused on winning and smoking pot are not mutually exclusive. What's more, paying lip-service to being focused on winning and smoking pot are not mutually exclusive. I don't hear from Odom a whole lot so I can't tell if this is any change in his attitude at all. But, I never doubted he wanted to be successful and win. But, he had enough of a mar1juana problem (or not enough smarts to avoid detection) to be caught several times. That's going to handicap him. I'd still want him -- though I want Andre Miller more.

There is no way we can get Odom except for a sign and trade which won't happen. All we can offer is the MLE which we are allready offering Posey and that just won't get it done.

I thought Posey was not to count against the MLE, we have his Bird rights, right? Your point is still valid though, the only way the Rox land him is through a S&T and I don't think we have what they would want to do a deal. I'm not even sure we would be interested.

A poster once typed and I still laugh about it, "The chances" of getting Odom "...are slim and none, and we're all out of slim".

Yep, everyone said it best. Would have to be a sign and trade. And it would have to be with a 3rd team involved, and it would possibly take Steve or Cat/EG.

I'd rather have Odom than Steve (there, I said it) but it won't happen.

Odom isn't that great. On paper his numbers seem solid. But I guarantee if he played in Houston, we'd be knocking him on this BBS regularly. His shooting percentage isn't all that great, and he's had injury problems for the past two seasons.

Baqui- but who doesnt get knocked on this board? odm would be vast improvement to our team if there was any way that we could get him (there isnt). about the pot thing, i still dont understand what the big deal is. hasnt the players association fought to get ghanja removed as a drug that players get tested for? basically the guys only problem is leaving the house with a doob which he probably doesnt do anymore so whats the deal?

Well...I remember Posey dominating Odom! I'm sticking with Posey...we'd have to give up someone like Mobley to get Odom. I like the team we have....and not another pot smoker!

    NO Odom.

I was excited about our draft pick Malik whatever because he wants to play rough and knock some people down getting a rebound. That is what this team needs not some over talented lazy no workin pot smoker. We have enough of those already. I am always reading some post on this board about some body being soft... well our whole team is a bunch of cream puffs. Look at our roster and tell me who it is that is gonna get pissed when we are losing and bust somebody with an elbow getting a rebound to get the team going. I would trade our whole roster to get 5 guys with attitudes like Ben Wallace. In fact if I could pick any one player that I think we should go after it would be Big Ben... put him at PF next to Ming and we would go to the finals with Moochie playing the point.
