Eh... the Browns are proving to be just as bad as all the other defenses they looked good against (Raiders, Titans twice).

last year we were tops in yards allowed. most important things for a defense, especially a nutty professor defense is pts allowed and flip the field with turnovers.

Its a game-plan offense... and yes, some of the gamelans were limited by who the QB was, but you were pretty much guaranteed to see something different each week.

Kubiak's stuff gets figured out as the season goes on... or at the very least requires ultra-fine execution to implement (and if you have injuries, all bets are off).

Baltimore has been stagnating on offense each week after getting off to the hot start... then again, they're still beating teams with a RBC.

For Savage he had a meh performance(btw hope he isnt injured..the Colts took some really cheap shots on our QBs/WRs)...but it took a huge game by the defense to keep the Texans in this game. I didnt like the Posey call, thought that was a really bad call that wiped out points..imho. But overall the team just couldnt do much when option 1 goes out...Option 2 was injured after his second start ever...Option 3 just isnt ready yet. I have to commend Savage on one thing...is his deep ball is fking amazing. Its terrific, and leads his receivers well...His understanding of coverage etc...needs more work, but Savage has talent. I really can see why B'OB thinks he has a chance in this league.

In regards to the playoff picture, we remarkably still have a chance, but now things outside our control have to work as well. Wished Baltimore wouldve lost, and that wouldve made this week game the deciding game. Regardless. To rebound from a 2-14 season to looking at least 8 wins (im already penciling the last game as W tbh)...that is terrific. If we got anything from our top picks, our team would be that much better. I think its time to get Mallet on the cheap for a 3 year deal, see if Fitz wants to be a back up. Praying Savage can stay healthy enough so we can evaluate his talent and possibility as an NFL QB with real game film on him.

Argh...this city is totally cursed as a football town. What ever...I'll still continue to support. It will just make it that much more special when we get a chance to win it all.

They should have used him more, in my opinion. Dude is a big play waiting to happen. Maybe mix in a few slants, quick hitters to get him in space. He's shown that he's got some potential when he gets touches.

Savage focusing solely on Nuk made it easy for the Colts to cover him, and probably helped Davis get a jump on that last INT.

What a shame, another year of Foster and Watt wasted... for quarterbacks and NFL careers, windows don't stay open for long.

I'm really pleased with O'Brien. Think he is the right coach going forward.

The Texans future really is in question though.

They have so many needs going forward.

    ILB, WR, S, CB

This defense will be better next year with a more healthy Cushing/Clowney.

I am still curious about Mallet being the answer.

i'm still fuming over the non call that took out savage's legs. and asking for a throw after that injury, yikes. saw it again, he used all arm couldn't step into the throw no wonder for the int.

I don't get this. One catch for 30 yards is great, but his penalty was far more impactful, and at the worst time. We obviously use our slot receiver, and D.Johnson is just a guy, but he's just a guy Posey can't beat out. Posey was a reach in the 3rd, and this FO hasn't shown a thing for finding midround WR talent (outside of Jacoby who had only 1 year with promising numbers)

Thats why I was hoping O'B would lay the groundwork for the future that the Texans wont be walked on by officials without getting called out on it. A big ol hefty fine for trashing the refs at the post game press conference would have been refreshing.

it was more about the command of the offense, adjustments to defensive sets, and playcalling more so than the outcome..

The way he fell back, it looked bad for ligament/cartilage type injuries. It would be just our luck.

I'd like another two games with him, because I was happy with what I saw.

    Obviously a Brutal loss.

Savage made some goofs and it was clear that he wasn't comfortable in the "normal" QB duties like taking the snap and handing it off, but he did throw the ball pretty well. That's a tough situation for him to be in and you could tell he wasnt comfortable. Still, not a terrible showing overall.

I'm most impressed with the way the secondary has been playing. Some of the "no name" guys are really making plays

Oh well. Watt is still amazing so at least we have that going for us.

Seemed more line a hyper extension but yeah, it was ugly and you never know what's doing behind the scenes of a knee.

It also was a game they had 2 weeks to prepare for.

Even if Mallet's injury was the major reason why he sucked against the Bengals, there was more hesitancy/doubt/less hurry-up in everything they did the following week.

Nobody is going to make decisions based on just one game. They obviously value Mallet (or else they wouldn't have acquired him AND made him the starter)... but he's still far from being a for-sure answer.

I think they value Mallett a ton. They've supposedly already told Mallett they'd like him back next year. I really think he's O'Brien's guy. I think O'Brien was nervous he'd completely hitch his wagon to Mallett if he brought him in and started him right away. Because of that, I think he took it very slowly and let Mallett get acclimated to his new teammates and everything else before he threw him in. Smart move, really. Shame it didn't work out the way O'Brien would have liked. Still could, though.

Have I said, I really like what O'Brien has done, overall, this year? The guy lives and breathes football and strategy, and it's great to see.
