He can definitely palm it. He often palms it while in the post, right after he gets the pass (assuming it actually gets to him for a change), as he surveys the floor , and then he makes his move.
DMo has ring-around itis. Way too many shots spin all the way around the rim and pop out or dangle up there tapping the back iron and then falling off.
In my opinion, I think it's because his shots need more arc. If they had a taller trajectory they would just bounce softer on the rim...
When it rings around and out, that's not soft enough. When it bounces, bounces, bounces and falls out...that's not enough touch.
For me this game showed that dmo has taken the next step. This was not his best game offensively . He missed a few bunnies in the post , had some turnovers, looked mediocre in the pick and roll , and the team did not look comfortable getting him the ball in the post. The last one is not his fault , but you could argue that he indirectly caused it . Also there were times defensively and in rebounding situations where he made a mental mistake . HOWEVER, he did not play like this all game . He did have good moments in the post . His defense on curry in pick and rolls was about as good as I've ever seen. He ****ed up a bunch , but still managed to put up a decent game of 18/7/2. He did not play well enough to be second fiddle to harden tonight and that's one of the reasons we lost . However, given that this was one of his first few games in the situation we faced last night ... I think he overall acclimated fairly well. I'm a huge dmo fan and only reason I say he did not play up his potential is because he has huge potential. Eventually , he will go grab a few more of those rebounds and make more of his post shots. He could have easily put up 24/10 last night and that would have been huge, legit performance in a big game against a good team . Given the context, I'm trying to look at things in a positive light and say that even though he had bad moments overall this dmo was able to put up 18/7 contribute well defensively with the team being short handed . When Howard gets back , Howard can run pnr much better and dmo can position himself in the corner or crash the boards. I like our future.
Hi, it's my first post here. I watched some games lately and started thinking that D-Mo's defence is quite good, much better than people used to give credit him for. So I started browsing some stats looking for any numbers that would support my implication. Nothing fancy shows up at the regular stats, neither rebounding is impressive, nor defensive rating. He doesn't block shots either, so you won't hear or read anyone saying much about his defence. But then I noticed a few figures which surprised me a lot. It's the shooting percentage change of a player, that is being defended by DMo as opposed to that player's regular shooting percentage. You will find the screenshot of the stats below. DFG% here means the shooting % of the player defended by DMo. FG% is his normal shooting% and diff% is the difference, of course. Spoiler Also, to put things in perspective, I went ahead and looked at a lot other respectable defenders, and put them in an album, which you can find down below. Spoiler http://imgur.com/a/RZOx9 So although it's early in the season, we can make an assumption, that DMo has become a very good 1 on 1 defender. This statistic might not represent the occasions when the player goes for help defence or rotates to stop a cutting/driving man after one has beaten his initial defender. Also, I was thinking that it might not be fair to compare him with other centers, because they usually have other assignments, but after all DMo is in a lot of lineups when Rockets go small and he's the one playing C.
Dmo looked gassed last night. The team overall put so much effort defensively into the first 3 quarters that they just didn't have enough in the tank for the last quarter. Getting guys back will help immensely.
Exactly, Harden was just settling for the long three and hoping it went it...they had nothing left... We need to get healthy...we could use all of our players back...particularly Dwight, Papa and Cannan.....Tjones too but I suspect he may be done for the year. DD
Didn't I read somewhere that T-Jones is already practicing with the team, shooting free-throws etc.? No timetable for his return?
Really? That would be wonderful news, I did hear he got the feeling back in his toes, and these things can go away as quickly as they come on.... So, wow, that would be great. DD
I've read that on rotoworld.com: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1838/terrence-jones Dec 5: Terrence Jones (leg) was spotted getting up some free throws during a recent Rockets’ practice. Dec 6: Terrence Jones (leg) is still out for Saturday against the Suns. Dec 8: Terrence Jones (leg) remains out indefinitely. The way these updates are phrased makes it seem he might even be back before New Years (?)...
Love the way D Mo has been playing. I'll gladly eat crow in regards to the negative things I had to say about him earlier this season. I wanted him off the team a month ago, but if we didn't have him the last month, we'd go .500 considering the rest the injuries.
D-mo has been our second best player since Dwight went down, and it's not even close. 15 and 8 on 57% shooting, while playing really good defense. Even in a game like last night where he wasn't his best, he was still productive. At this point I have no doubt D-mo is a really good NBA player, but I'm still a little concerned how well he will mesh with Dwight, will he be allowed to still do what he's doing now or will he morph back into perimeter guy.
