For those interested in attending, the Rockets tentatively will be playing on the following dates and times : Friday, July 11, 7:30pm vs. Lakers Saturday, July 12, 12:45pm vs. Raptors Tuesday, July 15, 5:15pm vs. Warriors Wednesday, July 16, 5:15pm vs. Nuggets Thursday, July 17, vs. 3:00pm vs. Grizzlies The games will be played at the Pyramid on the Long Beach State campus in Long Beach, California. General admission tickets are $10 each. One ticket gets you access to all the games for that day if you want (in other words, you don't have to pay $10 for each of the 5 games being played per day). Tickets can be bought online here or you can purchase them at the Pyramid in their ticket booth. Word of warning, Laker games were packed last year, so come early if you want good seats.
hell yeah! I thought the games didn't start till late july. So in about a week we will see Van Gundy coaching on the sidelines - thats exciting in itself.. this is awesome because I'm aching for a little Rocket basketball action right about now. I'm thinking Van Gundy will be coaching the summer league team since this is his first year back. Im also guessing his main two assistants will be hired by the start of summer league.
Yetti, I think they played in Southern California somewhere. The exact location, Im not sure. Yetti ,they also have a league in Utah that starts up right after the souther california league plays. I know some teams play in both leagues so hopefully the Rockets will do the same..because like i said i'm aching to see some Rocket BBall with Nachbar and Badian and really aching to see Van Gundy strolling those sidelines. and btw, it's Stoke, not Stroke.
the games in LA take place at Cal State Long Beach's Pyramid. Head coaches don't always do the coaching, although given VG's work ethic I think he'll be there. It will be good to see what offensive and defensive styles he employs.
Just for you Easy, I'm going. Let me go book some plane tickets and hotel rooms. (seriously, yes, I'm going!)
For those of you that are based out in L.A., and plan on attending the games, should also check out the fireworks display at the marina on the July 4th in Long Beach. It's pretty sweet also. Marina Del Ray is also a good place to watch fireworks on the 4th. "Califorina Dreaming"
Yeah, the Chronicle had a small article on it a couple days ago that was put into a thread. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60390 Offhand, I remember Boki, Malick Badiane, and EG playing, though EG will miss 6 games.
How come this is more exciting to me than NFL summer camp, baseball or the WNBA? Rocket River Come back to the NBA .. it is FANtastic
