I don't think Spreewell is overrated at all. He is what he is, a solid go-to guy who can carry a team in stretches and steps up in the playoffs. He isn't a guy you can build a team around, and I don't think anybody ever said he was. In fact Spreewell gets respect as a very good player, but I've never heard anyone go out of their way to call him a dominant player. Why would New York want Walker with McDyess returning? When McDyess was healthy in the preseason he was awesome. He should be back to 100%, unless they run Walker at SF, or the 3rd team gets involved and takes him. Spree would be a perfect fit for Minnesota.
No doubt. According to the Celtics site, which has Paul Pierce listed at only 6-6 (he's 6-7), he lists at 6-9, 245. I think it would be a bad trade for the Knicks, because they'd add more salary without getting rid of any salary. The only thing they need to think about is purging their roster, clear some space and start anew, which I know they will not do. I think Walker is one of the most overrated players in the league, right up there with Vince Carter. He jacks up too many threes (582 last season) at a godawful percentage (leading the league in attempts last season!!!!), shot under 40 percent from the field last season (.388) and was tenth in turnovers per game. Also he only shot 61 percent from the charity stripe. For the last three years, his shooting percentage, rebounds per contest, free-throw percentage, three-point percentage and free-throw attempts have all declined. Talk about a player on the decline. So what if he can run the team as a point forward? A trade for Walker is typical Knicks, make a trade for a declining player with a big contract.
This is a crazy move. Sprewell is clearly the more talented player. I'm not even sure what Walker would bring to the Knicks other then his 3 point shooting. Layden should get fired for this, just for thinking about moving Sprewell for Walker. It's painfully obvious that Layden doesn't like watching basketball. I'm not even sure if he understands the game. This is obviously a political move to get rid of Sprewell and his bad image by brining in Walker and his wussy playing style.
Another thing that bothers me about it is that Walker is a head case, a real attitude problem. If Layden thinks he has trouble with Spree showing up late for games, practice and shootarounds, imagine the problems he will have with that stupid head case Antoine Walker. I have to agree with you on that, he sure makes moves like he doesn't watch basketball at all. All I have to say about Layden is that the Rox owe him a debt of gratitude for taking off Shandon Anderson off their hands.
You gotta be kiddin me......................He's ALREADY the worst GM in NBA history. He makes Jerry Krause look like Red Auerbach. As a Knicks fan, All I can pray for is that Dolan cans him soon...................as in right NOW!
Say what you want about Jerry Krause, but he put the pieces in place behind Jordan. He may have been dumb in letting that team break up, but he added Grant, Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, etc.
In NY - Houston and Spree basically play the same position - one is out of position Peirce and Spree will be betteR? Spree will at least get the 3 spot instead of playing the 2 Rocket River
If Rasheed Wallace could somehow become a part of this deal, you could have the 3 most overrated players in the NBA all being traded for each other. I think Rasheed Wallace is far from overrated. Does he underachieve? Hell yea. But by no means is he overrated. He is a very rare talent and I would rank him ahead of Webber as possibly being the third best PF in the game behind only Duncan and Garnett. My 2 cents.... I would love to have Wallace as a Rocket. Wallace and Antonio Daniels or Jeff McCinis for Mo taylor, Cat mobley and Moochie. OR I'd even be willing to give up Mo Tay and Eddie Griffin. Anything to get Wallace besides giving up Francis, Ming and Cato. Daniels or Mccinis Francis Posey/Rice Wallace/Cato Ming/ Cato With Griffin and Mo taylor it seems as though it's a huge burdon at the 4. I feel we can only go so far with them playing the 4.
I really love Sheed's game too, but do you really want all the baggage that comes with him? If Antoine Walker is a head case, Sheed is a psych-eval waiting to happen. I don't think the Rox need his tantrums and immaturity. He's the kind of guy that's like sulfiric acid, he could seep into the fine foundation the Rox have built with Cat, Franchise and Yao and dissolve it like Alka-Seltzer. I don't think team chemistry would improve too much, because you'd now have five guys who think they can carry the scoring load and want the ball. You have to have guys like PJ Brown, Oak, Rodman in his prime, even that jerk Bruce Bowen, Plastic Man, etc. etc. who don't have to always have the ball and score to be effective. Those guys do all the dirty work. With a lineup like that, who's going to do the dirty work, like rebound and defend? Sheed could be one of the greatest defensive players ever, but he just so lazy and uncommitted on D, like most of the rest of Jailblazer ilk. I will definitely agree with you, the Rox have to get a ton better at the four spot. Mo and EG are not going to cut it there. Maybe in the Leastern conf. but not out west. If they could just get a guy who defend, grab some boards, block some shots, and protect Yao from harm. PJ Brown would fit the bill nicely. Ask Charlie Ward what kind of enforcer PJ is!!! LOL.
