How can anybody on this message board have a "feeling" about a player that few NBA GM's have seen play?

I have a feeling his jersey will be in the rafters one day.
I think we should give him a shot at the starting point guard duties.
I think we should let him wear number 34.

Cato makes 7 million a year to play 10 minutes a game...and still has like 3 years left on his contract. He's a great backup.....very energetic...and fun to watch.....but if we can get somebody good for him in a deal or something....then trade him away!

I was thinking the same thing. I think too many people are getting a little too excited about this pick. I hope he does turn out to be a beast of a player, but if he dosent then its no big deal.

Yeah, I suggested this in the #44 pick -- Badiane thread.

If you read the scouting reports, everyone calls him a C, NOT a PF and definitely NOT a SF. I have a feeling if not this year, then next, Cato will be traded to an EC team where he can have an opportunity to start and in the meantime, Badiane will be groomed to be Yao's back-up.

No knock on Cato, as it's been said, he's the best backup C in the league. But as it has also been said, he's paid starter $$s. And besides, don't you think Cato would WANT more minutes ... wait, don't answer that ;)

If Cato still thinks he can get away with not participatiing in the pregame shoot arounds like he did with Rudy then he may not need a good showing from Badiane to convince Van Gundy to trade him.

One thing I like about having Cato as the backup center to Yao is his game is VERY different than Yao's. They are, IMO, complimentary as Cato has a lot of power and Yao is finesse. It gives the coach some options when trying to put good combos out on the floor.

I didn't know about this. So what does he do during the shootarounds?

Cato is somewhat a waste of valuable $6M.

I cannot be fooled by the overrated (per 48 minutes  ) junk stats he put up last season.

He made his bed early with what he did or did not do for the this franchise before now so he will almost surely always be junk in my books. I will give him away for Pig Miller anytime.

    Cato is simply fake.
