I love this idea. It's barry barry good.

Can we also maybe trade Bill Worrel for RICK Barry? You know, do the right thing and get the whole family back together again?

Are there any other Barry's we can get? Dave Barry might be kind of fun in the locker room. I bet Barry White could give Kelvin a run for his money, at least at Shipley's. Does Barry Manilow have a decent jumper? Hey, maybe we can change the team name to the Houston Barrys!

No actually your going to far, but id like to see the rockets pick up Wang zhi zhi, so Ming has somebody to chill with on the bench and chat chinese.

So let me see if I've got this right:

You want Jon and Brent Barry on the team because it looks good for the league, them being brothers and all.

You want Wang Zhi Zhi on the team so Yao will have someone to chill with on the bench.

Might I be so bold to suggest that we save the Wang money and sign Colin Pine for the rookie minimum instead? He speaks Chinese and probably knows how to chill. Despite his lack of size, his interior defense can't be any worse the Wang's.

Other moves you might want to consider:

Let's sign Roy Tarpley. Giving the guy an 8th or 9th chance would look good for the league and the team -- helping with his ongoing rehab and all.

And let's sign Drazen Petrovic! Lots of teams have Eastern Europeans now, but we could be the first to have a DEAD one!

Tell me the truth: You're Carrol Dawson, aren't you? Can't fool me, CD!

I would trade for anyone who shoots 88% from the 3 point line..................
    But Brent Barry doesn't.
Rockets could do it......but Seattle wouldn't because they already have Ray Allen!
    They don't need Mobley....
Barry is already a veteran leader there....

We would have a bunch of guards.

You planned it out very nicely......but it's not gonna happen anyways.

hey betrayal- the sonics drafted ridnour so that they could move Barry from the point, if they didnt like that situation why would we? moving Cat to the bench is the best thing for this team, but who do you put in to replace him? posey cant hit the broad side of a barn and neither rice nor boki can guard the chair they are sitting in. Cat is a bargain and there aren't many of those in nba these days. unless we get a significant player in return (and with his salary that is not likely) Cat will be here.

Judging by that line...I would take Cat for Barry as a sg any day. I mean, really, wat does assists have to do with a sg's performance, because, after all, a sg is supposed to shoot the ball. Not to mention the fact if you think Cat would make a good 6th man on the Sonics roster, why wouldn't he make a good 6th man for the Rockets?!

Keep Mobley (for the time being)....nuff said.

Barry acheived those stats in 33 min whereas Mobley got his in 42 min, big difference. Plus the main reason people want to trade Mobley for Barry is because we need more shots for Yao and Francis, a distributor who can let Francis play more of a SG role, and the ability to drain shots from the outside more consistently.

I can't see Seatle doing this trade anyway, so we'll just wait and see what JVG can do with Mobley this upcoming season.

True...but still, I'm not ready to give up on Mobley just yet. He is definitely a bargain for the quality of player he is and has shown this past season he is willing to change his role to fit the team. Let's just hope JVG can bring out the greatness in him and everybody else for that matter.

I love the sarcasm, just what this thread needed.. heh.. I'd take Brent Barry but that's about it and not for mobley. Seattle's lineup is rather stacked with guards after the draft.. i'm thinking they don't need anymore.

I'm in the "let the team & JVG gell" camp, at least til just before the trading deadline. The only thing I would consider is picking up a 3 point shooter. The Barry boys do fit the bill.

He hasn't been playing for a season or so, but was known as a pure shooter, what about the free agent to be Tracy Murray? He probably wouldn't cost any more than the $1m dollar exception and could just take Glen Rice's place in the rotation. He's 31 and maybe he has a few shot/legs left in his game.

Look at Barry's assist numbers for the season, he averaged around 5 and a half after Payton was traded and he was the lead pg/playmaker, at most a small increase from what he was doing before he was traded (and his numbers were boosted considerably by one 16 assist game he had)

Imagine the outrage that would erupt on this message board if Francis averaged five assists. Sure, Barry can play the point, but not especially well. That's why they drafted Ridnour.

Man or you outta your mind? Barry is not half the player that Mobley is and the ROX's would be taking three steps backwards if they take on the Barry's instead of keeping players that can actually play ball.

Regarding the guards are selfish, SF 16.2 shots per game, Cat 14.6 shots per game. Jason Kid, who a lot of people on this site wants SF to be like, took 15.6. Both SF and Cat are by far better offensive players than Kidd, yet they took about the same amount of shots yet Kidd is unselfish and SF and Cat are selfish?

Because there are higher percentage options on the Rockets than Mobley's floaters and pull up jumpers and Mobley completely ignores these options.

I could be wrong, but hasn't Barry averaged close to 20 points a game with the Sonics? I'd say that makes him more than half the player Mobley is.
