Hey guys. It came to my attention that someone I know has a bball (not an official NBA ball) that was signed by Hakeem Olajuwon, Otis Thorpe, Maxwell, and the rest of the squad. However, we are not sure if the ball was signed after the first championship or prior.

Hakeem signed the autograph as "Akeem." We are going to verify the year ASAP.

My question is: if it was back before the name change, would the ball be worth more? Also, what year did Maxwell and Thorpe join the team? When did Akeem start signing as Hakeem? Lastly, would anyone likely be interested in purchasing it under said conditions?

Note: This is not a classified at this point. This is mainly inquiry for a hypothetical round-about pricing of worth. Thanks.

Edit: We have no problem getting the ball officially approved for authenticity.

Did some research and I believe the ball is more than likely from 1990. Still need confirmation for sure.

From looking around, Akeem apparently changed the spelling of his name in March 1991.
Otis Thorpe became a Rocket in October 1988 and stayed until February 1995
Maxwell was sold to the Rockets in February 1990.
Looks like "Akeem" and Maxwell define your boundaries.

If all 3 of those sigs were at the same time, looks like it was signed somewhere between the 89-90 and 90-91 season. If you can figure out some of the other players on there, you could narrow it down further if you want.

It's really not worth that much, like $50-100. Take a look on eBay for a better idea.

$20 is about what you hope you could sell it for, but first you have to frame it, it has it's condition issues and it will also probably sit around your shop for a while, I mean there's just not that big of a market for it. I'd only do $6.50 and not a penny more.

The "someone I know" never works and has been old for at least a decade. It would be much more effective to say "my friend" or, as is usually the case, "I--have a basketball." I also find it odd that there are no pictures. Why would you go through so much effort to appraise a ball for "someone [you] know"?

Looks like RasaqBoi has the leading bid. I suggest you close the bidding and take it.
