Some people like to cry about volume DLeague shooting star Troy Daniels who isn't shooting well in the NBA not getting minutes on the Rockets. Troy Daniels' DLeague feat has already been eclipsed. http://stats.nbadleague.com/playerStats.html?PlayerID=204029 34.8ppg, 60% from 3 point line on 15 attempts per game. Set the league record with 13 for 20 one night behind the line. If we want a real instant offense shooter it looks like Brady Heslip should be signed to replace last year's obsolete model.
So you want a one dimensional player 2" shorter than our current one dimensional player? That doesn't sound like progress to me.... I would rather a 6'10" journeyman at 3mil a year like a Steve Novak.
In all likelihood, any player in this mold would probably still get the same amount of playing time as Daniels gets (little to none) under McHale.
Good piece on Brady and how his journey compares to Troy's. http://upsidemotor.com/2014/12/01/nba-reno-bighorns-troy-daniels-d-league-brady-heslip/
Not giving up on Troy Daniels. This is basically his rookie year with the Rockets/NBA. McFail will keep this kid down until his hand is forced. Similair to DMo, Cannon, Jones, etc.....
I love that he's not averaging 3 assists and 6 rebounds a game - those are his totals for the year! This quote sums it up:
Some people just do not seem to grasp that D-League players, for the most part, are not capable of ever making it in the NBA. Some will successfully make the jump, but the vast majority of those were actually drafted. D-Mo, Jones, Canaan.
Someone has suggested that we send Garcia to the DLeague to practice his 3pt shooting. They shoot without conscience down there.
Rather sign Seth Curry. Becoming a better PG after playing a lot of career off the ball and he shoots just as good off the dribble as he does spotting up.
I haven't seen any Reno games, but I don't think they ask Heslip to facilitate the offense or crash the boards. The next Kobe!
Baylor fan/grad here Brady is a phenomenal shooter... However he is slow. Really slow. Is the biggest defensive liability you have ever seen and besides the 3 point shot his game is basically non existent. So basically he is smaller, slower, less athletic version of Troy Daniels.
People are also kind of neglecting that Daniels hasn't been in any real rotation. He has played very few spot minutes with like a total of 4 shots outside the 4th quarter. Meaning all of his stats are from garbage minutes with token offense and line-ups you'd otherwise never see. He is on the bench because of his lack of defense and experience plus Terry is playing great.
