Even if he doesn't, the pick my end up there. Pelicans not showing as much promise as their preseason lineup would indicate.
LOL you're an idiot. Finsraider is one of the 10 best posters in the GARM. Also, everything he said in that post was spot on.
Unless Davis misses significant time that's not gonna happen. The East is just too bad. Also rather unlikely to finish behind Lakers, T-Wolves or Jazz, so the pick will end up 10th at best. More likely 11-14.
The Pels like the Bucks are vastly overrated on this board. The Pels will finish 11th at best in the WC. 13th if the OKC and Lakers get healthy and catch up.
Pretty much my thoughts, with the proviso that lottery reform is still on the table. If they revisit it around the all-star break and the changes are retroactive to this year, that pick has the potential of landing in the 4-6 range. IMO, that makes it roughly equivalent to the Toronto pick that netted us Harden.
No doubt that picks are treated like currency. However the mistake you guys make is assuming that currency is valued the same from team to team. Its like taking your 100 US dollars and try to buy something that cost 100 Euros in the UK. You are going to have to adjust for the country, and in the NBA you adjust to the buyers NEEDS. For instance: -Phoenix has potentially THREE 2015 first round picks and a second round pick this year in June coming their way. Do they really want to add another rookie and have potentially FIVE rookies coming into their 2015 training camp? -The Nets have a swap this year (with their pick going to Atlanta) & they do not have a pick in 2016. Do the Nets really want to go 2 more years with an aging roster without a halfway decent first round pick to add talent to their roster? If you don't think the Nets would value acquiring the Pelican's pick more than the Suns than I don't know what to tell you. That right there is what we refer to as buyer NEED satisfaction, and although draft picks are traded like currency, the value of that "dollar amount" varies from team to team.
That was the value 6 months ago what has changed so much 15 or so games into the season? The pick has nice value but not as much as Rockets fans suggest. The 2015 will not be a deep draft.
I am sorry, i don't understand you completely. I just pointed out that we got a pretty good value from Asik trade. And i believe a late lottery pick is a good asset.
What you're saying makes no sense. If the Suns don't want picks and want players, they'd have done a trade of picks for players already. You say the Nets want picks more than the Suns? Free market would dictate that the Suns trade some number of picks to the Nets for some players, perhaps Teletovic, who actually fills a nice stretch 4 role for the Suns. You are arguing against basic economics. If you have $10 and you're hungry, you don't keep that $10 and stay hungry. If you have $10 and are keeping that $10 when food is available, it means you're not hungry. If Phoenix has a desperate need for a better team today, they'd have traded the picks already. That they haven't implies they're building for the future. And what's better than picks for the future? Nothing.
No. I'm saying that Phoenix has a large amount of picks already therefore they don't have the NEED for picks like a team such as Brooklyn does (or should if they are smart). Another example would be a team that has 3 point guards all making over 10 million a piece and all are starting caliber PG's. They probably aren't going to be hot on the market to trade for another PG. They probably NEED a big man to balance out their roster. Phoenix would probably be less likely to give up a valuable return for a pick when they don't have the need for it. I'm sure they'd still want it, but needing it affects how much you are willing to pay for it. Not sure why that doesn't make sense.
FeaR you replied to someone saying " It's worth at most an Omer Asik type player." With a reply of "I believe more than an one dimensional center with back problems in an expiring contract." I asked you what has changed in the 6 months or so and 15 games in? Why does it have more value today? Currently the NO pick is sitting at 13.
