From CAR's: While Apple did not explicitely mention p*rn in introducing iChat AV, that was certainly on everyone's mind.
Well I love online gaming...so it looks like this mac is useless to me. AOE and HL are only great because of the great online gaming community. I don't think there is much of one for mac users.
Apparently the methods that Apple benchmarked the new G5 are being doubted... http://www.haxial.com/spls-soapbox/apple-powermac-G5/ http://www.amdzone.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1296&page=2
I used to work at Apple, and I had a mac...loved it. Went to work for Dell, made the switch, now I can't go back. My roomate still works at Apple, and I've tried using his Powerbook, and I just don't like it. Apple makes awesome products, I won't argue that.....I just think the Windows is easier to use.
You in Austin? I used to work in Tech Support at Apple in Austin. Apple grabbed some Dell managers before I left. A$$holes, every last one of them...
I'm a certified Mac Addict, have been using Mac's since the begining, and have never once attended a "Glee club" meeting. As a person who has a lot of Mac experience, I would say the biggest difference between the two platforms would have to be hardware reliability. I've maintained an office of 10+ macs for the past 11 years and I can count the number of times on one hand that I have had hardware failures that have caused an artist to lose time on the job. My G3 power book is still going strong in its 4th year of service and it has been put through the ringer. I think Apple's quality control is part of the reason I would not consider switching. In the past few years I feel I've been rewarded for being a loyal Mac person. I use iTunes to manage my music (I converted all my cd's and boxed them up) iPhoto to manage my photos (2 small kids tons of digital pictures) imovie to put together digital video, apple mail, address book, and ical all sync'ed with my phone and pda thru iSync to keep me organized. All of these apps are free and have made my life much easier and less cluttered. Jaguar is an awesome, stable OS and I expect Panther to be more of the same.
10,000 pardons if this has already been posted. Disclaimer: I know 0 about Macs, but I thought this was pretty funny anyway. Enjoy! http://mike.disorient.net/uploads/videos/mac.wmv
In a delicious irony, the video of this clip doesn't play in Windows Media Player on Mac OS X. MS can't be bothered to update their software. I could hear what it was saying however. All I'll say is that whatever that guy's describing, it ain't OS X.
You can play Age of Empires on the Mac: http://www.apple.com/games/articles/2001/09/ageofempires2/ Check this link for information on Apple Games: http://guide.apple.com/uscategories/games_us.lasso Yup, peecee people have us beat in one department: Gaming. But the window is closing, as it has been for some time. EverQuest, ShadowBane, Baldur's Gate, Unreal Tournament and a whole bunch more are available for Mac. Of course, none of that really matters to me as I'm on an original iMac running MacOS 9.2 at a blazing 233mhz. I can't justify getting a new machine as this one does all I need just fine (except for playing any decent games....but I've got a PS2 anyway), which even includes some graphic work. I'd essentially be buying a new computer just to play games, and I can't justify a new computer for that just yet. Not to mention I'm broke, which kinda negates that whole idea anyway.
