Umm...how do you know he is good enough? Have you seen him play extensive minutes against NBA competition, and perform well? Cause I sure haven't.
Well, Yao probably knows more about Boki than any of us since they are best friends. Maybe they are grooming him to be a 4. His perimeter defense certainly didn't look to good last season the few times I saw him play. The team may have decided he's too slow to guard athletic 3's and we're better off with him defending the post. Hard to imagine he could be much softer than Eddie was last season.
There is no doubt on my mind if Boki plays along with Yao, we would have a much better flow in our offense. Both are foreign trained and know how to play team basketball. And friends always play and complement each other better, even for iso plays. Just look at SF and Cat.

Nor I. How do any of us know anything about Boki, we've never seen him play. Many people here are ready to give him the starting spot. Based on what? I'm all for giving him some more minutes just to see what he's got, but let's hold off on branding him an starter.
Boki at least should get some minute to try. We need a shooter very badly. We need some shooter, who can punish the double team on Yao just like Spurs did.
Boki is a dunker and attacks the basket. He is not just a shoter. People think that since he is European he can only shot. Boki is one of the best dunkers on the Rockets.
That's pretty cool that JVG is going over to China to visit with Yao. He seems to travel a lot- back and forth between Houston and NY, and he took a trip to Maryland/DC to visit with Francis. A trip to Senegal to have dinner with Malick Badiane's family can't be far behind. BTW, if you didn't catch it, Feigen mentioned JVG spoke with Yao on Thursday (draft day, hmm). Why is there no one behind, next to, or in front of JVG and his daughter in that picture?
