You know, that might be a great idea. I only see the back up C position as a need. Everything else seems to be there. T. Jones is still the X-factor for what he can do.
Canaan was much better tonight on defense than he has been. But honestly, Paul or Westbrook would tear him a new a** hole.
I wonder why our bench is so disappointing, but it's crazy how many injuries we have right now like i don't feel like it's alot but when you really think about it.
I think you guys are forgetting Curry. He's best shooting PG in the league. DH, great thread. Very proud of Canaan and DMo tonight. Both guys stepped up when we needed them. I've always believed if DMo received consistent touches he could score like this. He played a great game. Canaan is an explosive scorer and reminds me of a young Ben Gordon. I've been really happy with his defense this year and he's trying to develop his play-making skills a bit more. As others have said, enough of Garcia trying to be a point forward and create his shot. I'd rather run a smaller line-up then have Cisco jacking up threes. Although he does still play OK defense. Dorsey is 6 fouls, that's it. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane sums him up. If we can find 2 better players to fill there time, I'd be very happy. Git'er done DM.
+1 rep Unbelievable how at 12-3 on a injury depleted team we have fans whining about their how the fav bench players need more time over the other bench players who they don't like. so silly
I think the way they are rotating is good. It keeps Canaan hungry for action, and he will deliver every time he's put on the floor. He operates better when he's trying to prove himself. ..as long as he doesn't get mad and decides that he wants to leave.
I mean, that's true, but we're talking about a backup here not the starter. Cannon has done nothing with his minutes but produce, and his defense seems to be improving. No one (except Drexler) is saying the guy is going to be an All-Star, but he has upside and in my opinion has already shown enough to warrant the keys to the second unit. If there were one aspect of his offensive game that I would ask him to work on, it would be developing more of a slashing attack to offset his already excellent outside shot. Both Lin and even Aaron Brooks had more of a slashing mentality, and I think you need that as part of the offense to keep the attack from stagnating and settling from a lot of outside jumpers. I think that might be what's keeping Garcia in games. He's still willing/able to attack the basket from time to time, and unfortunately this team is lacking in the slasher category. (but srsly, please put him in a suit and give him a clipboard)
You're comparing apples to oranges. Canaan is a backup player playing limited minutes. He's not expected to carry the offense on a nightly basis. He has the luxury of only shooting good shots and only shooting it when he's feeling it. The guys that are the primary offensive options for their teams have to do it every night. Even if those guys aren't shooting it well that night, they are still expected to produce. That's a big difference. At the Dallas game last week, Canaan shot was way off in pregame warmups...he hit nothing...everything was short. When he got into the game he didn't even look to shoot, he got rid of the ball as fast as he could. Not to say that Canaan won't develop into a great and dependable shooter but rather that you're jumping the gun on a guy who's not even a regular rotation player. Canaan is shooting 42.4% on on 59 attempts. That's a great job but it's a very small sample size. Jose Calderon, for example, has shot 46.1% and 44.9% on over 700 attempts the last two seasons. Right now Prigioni, Brooks, Lillard, Conley, Irving and CP3 are all shooting a higher 3FG% than Canaan. Let's see Canaan's numbers over a full season before you start proclaiming him the 2nd best shooting PG. It's a long season and there's going to be ups and downs.
