I have been asked by the owner of the Laff Stop to do something there on the Sunday nights I am available, here is my idea. "Cometry" Comedy + Poetry is what I may propose. I didn't want to do a straight Comedy night because good talent is so limited here and I would also like to keep it as clean as possible. Participants can do comedy or poerty or preferrably a funny poem. I will do this once a month to keep it fresh and maybe more often if it takes off. 5.00 cover charge and participants get in free... ...your thoughts?
i would go and see it. its something different. the poetry crowd gets a little comedy and vice versa.
that could really turn into something great. i would go see it. especially if its only 5 bucks to get in. would the laff stop two drink minium still apply?
How about a medlay of Rocket Haiku? Someone find the old thread... or we could just go with the more recent Lunch Haiku...
To pay the doorman cash money, for something possibly unfunny. Could cause the crowd to think, man this show really stinks. On the other hand if the 5 dolla, Makes the crowd stand and holla, All loud cheers not a single whine, Could bring AB some mad shine. Buy some chains and a fat ring, Then you’ve got tha Bling Bling. If the shows a hit from coast to coast, It won’t be the result of this lame a$$ post.
nothing wrong with a lil alcohol, but i think it would definantly make it more attractive. something fun/interesting to do on a sunday night and you only have to shell out 5 bucks. people are generally going to buy drinks no matter what. i think it just might look better from an advertising standpoint. either way it sounds like a really cool venture. good luck! Brian EDIT: unless of course.... you worry that some acts might not be very funny without the audiance being a little tipsy.
Raise the drink minimum and you stand a much better chance of laughter for those who attend. Sounds like a good idea. Let me know when the pilot show is I would like to attend and give you my feelings about the show. Don't get discouraged if it is not immediately accepted, it may take a while for it to catch on or for people to understand what they are going to see. Good luck!
