Well in case you haven't heard. The OOTP file crashed while simming today. I have an e-mail in to 400 to find out if there is anyway to correct the problem. I feel like I know which file is corrupt but I am not sure if it can be fixed. Pending there answer and if it is in the negatory we need to decide our next action. I have a league backup but the problem is it is from the beginning of 2012. The current choices are(and I favor none more than any other): 1) We can restart completely using OOTP4 2) We can restart completely using OOTP5. 3) We could start at the beginning of Season 2012. 4) We can sim through 2012 and restart at the beggining of 2013(If we chose this it would be about a month before we sim again because I would have to go in and manually put in the talent increases and make the roster moves also.) Both options 1&2 would use as current a roster set as I can get. Starting in 5 could mean that Nomar would be the commish eventually. The details of that are still to be worked out if that is what everyone chooses If anyone else has any suggestions as to what we can do let me know.And also post which option you would prefer. CK
Since I haven't put as much time into this team as others, I don't think my opinion matters as much as the more long termed GMs. I'd prefer just starting with OOTP 5 though, but it doesn't really matter to me...
I was afraid something like this happened because I got your email about Claudio around 2 this afternoon but noticed that the site hadn't been updated. For me, options 1 and 2 are out. I know our re-start sim has lasted for a while (11 seasons), but I am really enjoying this rebuilding project I am doing now. Add to the fact that DV has a league fixing to start that is sorta of a restart (with the exception that we are drafting players to be on our teams), and I, at least, would like to keep our league going around the 2013 season. Option 3 wouldn't be too bad, but it would mean for me to get rid of some bad contracts again, something that I would dread having to do. We have had some delays in the past before, so it wouldn't bother me (believe it or not) for us to go with option 4 and wait for you to get all the talent increases and moves put in. However, this is what I would like to see, but even if we go with a restart option again, I would still participate in the league (would be nice to have Boston but probably won't happen).
Oh and I'll add this, Castor if you decide to do Option 4, I would be glad to help you figure out all the moves and talent increases that would need to be entered.
I hated starting over the first time and will not go through it again, but if getting this to work is a hassle don't put in extra work just because I said so. I'll live.
I'm not at all opposed to starting over. Going back in time sucks and I do not believe that I want you to have to go through doing tdevs and signings and so on and so forth.
After resting and hoping and praying that all of this has been a nightmare, I now go with starting in season 2012 followed by starting over with OOTP4.
1 would be fine with me . . . .as long as I can have the Marlins I joke, really I do. I would be happy with the Padres if we did start over again.
I must apologize. I must have been the pillar that held this league together, and I removed myself from it. I will be more careful in the future. If anyone needs a shoulder to cry on, there are mannequins available at your local department stores.
I say number one. I really am happy with my team but a restart might be kind of fun. I dont care if I am a prick, but i dont think I would ever be in a league where nomar was commish.
1 or 3, coming from a person who helped manually repair tdevs and roster changes, it's certainly not fun, and it takes forever. Plus if we restart, it'll let us see how good people are without preying on deve's blundering
I have tried several things this morning still to no avail. It looks like Option 1 is what the majority is looking at. I will start making preperations for that but We won't make any definite decisions until Tuesday. I want to see if anyone at 400 can give me any answers first. CK
