RIIIGHHHGTTTTT....you just traded your franchise player for someone who plays the same position as Brewer and needs minutes, but you are just going to keep him around because he's too valuable to you in your quest to tank

Report: Cavaliers deliberate as Rockets ready to trade for Corey Brewer

    http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....e-as-rockets-ready-to-trade-for-corey-brewer/

The Cavaliers – despite having LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving – are far from a finished product.

    Especially, they need defensive help.

That’s why they pursued Timofey Mozgov from the Nuggets and why they’re interested in Corey Brewer of the Timberwolves.

    Marc Stein of ESPN:

There’s probably elements of truth in regards to Cleveland’s thinking, but this just reeks of posturing by Minnesota. There were plenty of leaks during the Love trade saga this summer, and that worked out well for the Timberwolves. There’s little reason to believe wouldn’t try that again.

If there’s truly a good offer on the table from Houston now, why not just take that? I believe the Rockets are more ready than Cleveland to trade, but if they had already made a suitable offer, the deal would be done.

Maybe the Cavaliers have to act quickly if they want Brewer before Houston gets him, but I bet they have a fair amount of time to sort out their priorities and make a compelling offer to Minnesota if they determine that’s what they want to do.

Hmmmm. I'm curious as to see what we could offer to get Brewer..an excellent slasher capable of going off on any given night. While we did play atrocious defense that one game...50 points is no joke. Would love to have him here.

    He can't shoot though.

.294 from 3 on his career (that's worse than Jones).
He last shot above 30% back in 2009....
Good defender, but we'd get frustrated FAST with him clunking dem triples.

If he is coming to replace Papa (who is going to get us a PG or PF), then I can live with it.

Just seems like a very un-Morey like move. Average player on a MLE contract with a player option for next year. The wolves are just trying to save face here.

Why would flip state such absolutes in public regarding a role player?

Maybe they were talking to flip the coach when they should have asked flip the gm?

Probably due to the K Mart injury, now that they actually need him.

Wolves can't possibly expect to compete in the West even full healthy with all their young players. Moving Brewer only makes sense for them long term.

Need him for what? To win 23 games instead of just winning 22?

Unless they are going to start Glenn Robinson III or Bud at SG....

Not everyone is as brazen as the 76ers in terms of openly tanking.

I'm not saying it makes any kind of sense in terms of roster or cap space, but I think there's a side of Flip that wants to pretend like he's still relevant in this league, and openly tanking would undermine that.

This should push the youth movement even further (e.g. tanking) now that Martin's out. Might as well:

Absorb Thaddeus Young's contract with the TPE

Send Dmo and fillers for Brewer

    Beverley/Canaan
    Harden/Brewer
    Ariza/Papa
    Young/Jones
    Howard/ Walking corpse
