If ESPN would not have screwed us, We all had a chance to see our new logo. Maybe someone there might shed some light?????
I noticed that too. Does anyone have a copy of the photo they must've taken of him after he walked off the stage?
This cap looks very similar to the one Malick was wearing. This came up in a google image search. The old logo remains for now.
This is what shows up at the NBA.COM site: http://store.nba.com/grid_item_list.aspx?mode=grid&keywords=draft+day&aid=drafthomei Same ol' crap. Thank you Rockets for taking so long to debut the new logo.
I say we go without a logo,...and call ourselves the team formerly known as the Rockets. So if you have a red shirt in the closet, you already have the new look. And the Rox could spend the money they saved on design costs on a sweet shooting guard or dishman.
The Rockets are not going to trot out the logo in some low-key, unheralded way like putting it on the head of their second round pick. Come on. They obviously want to make an event of it. Besides, Tim McDougall has already said in the big draft thread that it wasn't the new logo (though the whole blue-red thing just added to the fire, I still believe him).
Page 3 of the badiane sticky has Badiane shakin hands w/ the deputy commish doesnt really help much though
Remember that this kid was "unofficially" at the draft, meaning that his handshake was not really league sponsored. Thus there is zero importance to the hat, as the Rockets would not have bothered (how many 44 picks are ever in attendence, much less important enough to present your new logo?) and the league certainly couldn't have known/done anything.
EXACTLY! When is everyone going to realize that when the Rockets want us to know about the new logo and uniforms, WE WILL KNOW. There will be info all over the news, the web, you name it.
Wow "Unoffically" at the 2003 Draft. Handshake was not league sponsed. Then what the h*ll did he even bother going up. I'll tell you why, he was projected to go in the 1st round. The Rockets might have had 2 caps available(1 Blue, 1 Red.........er Crimson) Maybe If we would have made a big splash in the draft, such as a trade in the first 13 picks there might have been a logo release. Since no one knows of our second round pick we wanted to save our new logo for another "BIG SPLASH." The NBA handed Malick the wrong Rockets cap. Come on Tim tell me I have a CLUE!
A lot of the agents for the foreign players bring them so they can get the experience - regardless of where they will be picked or their immediate availability for the upcoming season. There were plenty of other foreign second rounders that walked up there, as well. Regardless, it is not the proper venue for the debut of a new identity, it is silly to suggest or think otherwise, especially after it was made clear (by Tim) that the Rockets would not be unveiling anything at the draft. Yet this thread was created an persists.
Yes we will know if Alum or some one from New York was at the Garden and saw Malick stroll to the Podeum for the................"unoffical handshake."
