[TMZ] Dwight Howard Now Under Criminal Investigation for Child Abuse

First and foremost, I hope there aren't actually any abused children in this case.

Coming from someone who was hit with a belt, I think the buckle-end is too much.

But if this is a legitimate claim, and I'm not kidding guys -- this could be the Achilles cocaine (re: Wiggins and Sweet Lou) of our current Rockets.

We're maybe not even an 8 seed without Dwight, in our current form.

 

Let's just hope it doesn't come to that. The good thing is that authorities in Florida already looked at the evidence and considered it frivolous.

 

My comment is based on extortion, not on whether or not a child was abused.

No. Any suspected crime can be investigated as many times as wanted. Once someone is tried and found innocent then they can't be prosecuted again even if evidence is found showing they did do the crime.

Besides, Florida should not have been doing an investigation anyway if the acts were committed in Georgia. Apparently the mother went to Florida authorities at first then when they finished the investigation and declined to pursue she went to the Georgia authorities.

Florida and Georgia (including Texas) are states that allow spanking though and that is all Howard is accused of doing. To clarify why many are skeptical is Dwight has started actions to gain full custody of this kid. He get full custody the Mother gets no money to raise him.

 

My Dad was old school when it came to punishment, doing what his own father did while he was growing up, although getting spanked with his belt didn't happen nearly as much as I deserved. I raised hell as a kid. He never used the buckle end, though. It wouldn't have occured to him. Absent proof that Dwight did, and this incident has already been investigated at least once and dropped by the Florida police, sounds like the woman is trying to "spank" Dwight herself and get some more bread in her bank account. I never spanked my kids. Didn't need to. Damn, were we lucky. Both are young adults now. If they want spanking, they'll have to arrange that themselves. ;-)-
