Really? Not even at a sports bar? Or a Restaurant? Or a friends house?

Its also pretty much the same as FS Houston's old HD feed... or comparable to the games on TNT/ESPN.

I liked the presentation, the music, the intro was nice with tribute to our championship banners and such, but the animations are a bit cartoonish and amateuristic. I like the ESPN score banner and so glad not the whole game with that annoying esurance scoreboard although it did pop up a lot.

I'm going to have to wait a few games to give a rating on ROOT. I changed the channel cause it was a bad game.

I got screwed. I get an email that Root Sports is part of my sports pack with DTV premier . Channel shows but game was blacked out. I waited 2 years for nothing, I sure miss FSN Houston. 49 games remaining on LP for $200 dollars. That's $4.25 a game. I don't think the Rockets are worth it.

I agree...they are not worth it. That's why I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not paying $200 just to watch the Rockets.

What would be sweet is if they could offer a league pass specific to a certain team only at a much discounted rate. I guess that is too much customization to implement for the consumers. I don't care what other teams are doing to the point of wanting to watch them and I'm certainly not paying that amount of money for all the games when I'm only watching one. In years past I would of...but no more. I'm done. I'll catch the ones that are shown on TV and follow box scores / watch post-game highlights on the rest.

If you're not in the Rockets regional area, then you won't get the games without LP. If you are in the Houston area then there is something wrong with that.

Sooo... my cheap U200 Uverse package seems to have ROOT Sports on it ... does this mean I'll be able to watch the Rockets games in Dallas without League Pass? Hmmm...

So far IMO, Root Sports is crap. I miss the daily local shows that CSN had. Instead I get the Dan Patrick show, and X Games, and a buncha crap that I have no interest in. Hopefully down the road, they will get the local shows with local personalities back up and running, but for now besides the Rockets games, and Astros later on, I'm really not liking Root Sports.

Doubtful. People will say "what if the ratings are good, they'll get more advertising and can bolster staff/programming", but no one wants to build an advertising-based business model these days. Relying on ads is way too risky given the ups and downs of the economy. The preferred model is subscription-based, which in this case means a higher carriage fee... and we just went through two years in which it was made abundantly clear that not enough people in the Houston market favored CSN at the price point needed to run all the local shows like CSN did.

In theory, anything can happen, but I'm fairly confident there won't be any significant changes to Root Sports content down the road. The demand just wasn't there for anything beyond the games and simple pre-/postgame shows.
