I'll be spending about three days in Reno next week and I'll probably be in Yosemite on one of those days...what should I do on the other two? It has to be somewhat family friendly, in addition to my wife, I'll have my 18 month old with me. What are the best casinos to visit in Reno?
casinos are casinos...pick one and win. i was in reno about 3 years ago for new years. good times good times... my friends and i took a tour to the old las vegas towns outside of reno...pretty interesting plus you get a free lunch (hotdog and beer), you also get a buffet breakfast at one of the casino in reno. then it takes you through lake taho and all the rich houses and what not, then we drove by the legal w**** houses. i think it was around $35. it killed the time and was fairly interesting. whatever you do dont go and watch dude where's my car in a theater there cause your broke and dont want to lose anymore $ in the casinos. big mistake. i want my 2 hours of wasted life back!
Go to lake tahoe, take the lift up the montain (can't remember what its called). I'm not really sure what it looks like this time of year since I usually go during winter, but just seeing the lake and montains is still beautiful.
Good call. I was just about to suggest the same thing. Tahoe is a beautiful area, with mountains and nice casinos. Reno is a sleezy town full of hookers and hustlers.
Since you'll have your wife and kid with you, that kind of rules out the, ahem, "ranches" in Carson City. Definitely visit Lake Tahoe. Eat at Scusa while you are there. It's an excellent Italian restaurant. You should take your wife and kids to see Virginia City. It's up in the mountains halfway between Reno and Lake Tahoe. It's an old west mining town where the silver "mother lode" was found in the 1800s. Lots of curio shops and antique shops and wooden sidewalks.
