No, he's really very smart (nice GPA). His issue is the same one that Manziel had: spoiled and entitled. He literally feels (ala Johnny Football) that the rules don't apply to him and he should get what he wants when he wants it. And when I look at all the exceptions that get made for athletes, I can't fault him for feeling that way. If getting behind the wheel while falling down drunk and killing your best friend (Josh Brent) doesn't disqualify someone from playing in the NFL, then nothing Winston has done or been accused of doing comes even close. But I agree with you about him being in it just for the money.

Perhaps because of the nature of their roles during their one season together in New England — one on the way up, one on the way out — Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett weren’t terribly close.

But the now-Browns starter said the now-Texans starter had the kind of physical gifts that were easy to see when they were on the practice field together.

“Strongest arm I’ve ever seen,” Hoyer said, via Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle.*“And I really do mean that.”.

Yes, I'm sure the Florida State football program has quite rigorous academic standards, especially for its star players.

i heard that in that scheme, a qb changes the protection at least 4 times in one play. expecting the oline to pick up the system in one season is crazy but if mallet can make quick decisions, it's going to go a long way.

Ya wouldnt believe the calculations involved with physics, mass x force equals how you jump on a table.

One area I want to see Mallett exceed Fitz is the quick 10-15 yard slant where a zip throw is necessary to squeeze the ball in before the linebacker can adjust to the route. Fitz just didn't have the arm to complete it that fraction of a second sooner. And, obviously, the long ball should be no issue at all now.

Looking forward to seeing it come together

Immediately after completing that 15 yard pass i want to him run his guys back to the line. keep the defense playing the entire. no resting in between plays.

Reminds me of the New England nightmare in 2012.

Imagine being a defender after being gassed on a big play. You don't even have a chance to even adjust to what went wrong. The offense in football has a big advantage over the defense

Hurry-up offense is a common theme among coaches.
That's why defenses try to confuse the offense so they will call time outs and take more time re-adjusting the reads/calls.
What it will all boil down to with Mallett is if he can get adequate protection and if he can pick up the blitz cause itsa comin'...

They'll have to have a deep snapper in there because Mallet will be the slowest guy to get up the field for the snap.

That's not a bad idea actually, snap it back about 25 yards every down. Why not? He's got the arm for it and it might make it to where he's got 3 or 4 seconds before he's pressured that way.

Yep. Doesn't really mean much if you don't know what the expectations were to begin with. They could've expected him to come in and give an immediate spark, or because he's going to see his first meaningful time in the NFL, they could've expected him to struggle somewhat and for it to still be a learning process.

Madden 15 had a roster update a couple of days ago and now I'm connecting on long passes like nothing with mallet where before I keep on getting interception woth Fitz. Won 3 games in a row since mallet took the job. The previous 79 losses was all Fitz lol
