Thank you, thats excactly what i ment..i moved to Australia recently reasson beeing Greece is bleeding out financially ,no jobs, scary or no future, so iam still working on my english guys.. I do believe thow that if PAP would had crossed the Atlantic 2 years ago he would have been back before getting a chance to mix it up for Halloween. The one year he spent with Barcelona was crucial for his development since clubs like that dont hand out freely 3year contracts worth millions of euros to be coming from the bench sparking offense or defense they want to see instant reward for their money so the pressure to deliver was on from day one..I know that his stats were not really impresive but like u guys mention a lot ,he does all the little things that the statsheet wont talk about so props to your GM specially after the Spanoulis fiasko it takes real heart to go and sign some Greek dude nobody knows nothing about.. And yes ,shastarocket is right ,olympiakos-pana is more akin to lakers-celtics talking national level but derbies between state or city rivals have their own flavour and spice.. BY the way how is Texas divided when rockets and mavs clash and are u guys go at it if u happen to cross paths before or after games?? Iam curious
This. That's why at least I - being an Oly. fan - have come back to follow the Rox more consistently. And don't forget, apart from Pap, Olympiacos about 2 yrs ago,had also in his rotation, Pat Bev, Joe Dorsey and Josh Powel. So, a lot of things binding our two teams (apart from colours and all, )
You're insulting Ivkovich with this post. I'll give you that Pap moving to Barcelona served him well, mostly because he had the experience of trying to mesh into a new environment with people who aren't your "buddies" and adjust to a new system, before having to do the same for the Rockets. Surely having that experience in Spain (which is much more similar to Greece than Texas is, thus less culture shock to go with his first big transfer) helped. However, I'm willing to bet that 99/100 people that have followed Pap since Olympiacos signed him (or even his Aris days) will agree that the year he spend under Ivkovich was by far his most productive in terms of development.
No insult intended ,specialy towards Duda Ivkovic!! Legendary Coach and a big part of Olympiakos history, our Club beeing the only one he came back to work for a second time and the feelings are mutual!!! DUDA ALANI GIA PANTA STO LIMANI!!!!!
Nice !! I was thinking he must have flown to Houston from Greece via Mexico City and left his 3pt shot there when hitting his connecting flight... Seriously hope tonight was the start of something more consistent for him in that regard, because the dude can straight up ball and has a hell of a lot of intangible skills that you can readily see when he is on the court (especially with the starters). Rox need him to hit those 3's w/ a better level of consistency!
IF he can hit 3's his post entry passes will get better with guys in his face. He constantly looks for DH12. Also this guy is just a gamer. He understands angles of attack when driving, passing and rebounding.
I mentioned it in the game thread, but it seems like DMo has more confidence in his passing game now that Papa is out there wheeling and dealing. Very encouraging
K-Pops shot was spot on tonight. Best part about Kostas is his basketball IQ. The Greek is pure grit and balls on the court.
I had a feeling that DMo & Papa were pretty close, both being international players that come off the bench. That pic makes me think I might have a future as a fortune teller.
I really like this guy, in fact he is one of the main reasons why I'm so excited for our team this year. I think he has a chance to become the next Detlef Schrempf, a player who I long hated when we had to face the Sonics during Hakeem era. Don't know why so many other teams waited to pick this guy up in the offseason but he's a gem. He has more potential than Parson's did, imo.
I said this a few weeks ago. Papa looks for Dmo on the floor. He understands how to get his big men involved. As a result Dmo seems to be more aggresive when Papa is on the floor with him. They have a good on court connection.
I agree - that stat seems a little empty because it doesn't take into account how accurate the people taking those shots were against other NBA defenders. Guys like Ariza for instance, are always guarding the other team's best perimeter player while a guy like Kostas might be guarding the opposition's 3rd option(on relatively weak teams so far this season). I'm not saying he's a bad defender, but that the stat used to tout his defensive skills is misleading at best.
