it'll all be good when dwight gets back. he's been up against better perimeter Ds the last two games. he's still good when wide open.
I actually don't mind it if Ariza shoots like crap, because unlike Parsons who is basically useless if he shoots blanks Ariza still held Thompson who averages 24 pts to just 11 pts. It's no surprise he would struggle because GS had two wings in Thompson and Iggy who are really good defenders, and while guys like Barnes aren't stoppers they're quite long athletic enough to stay in front of their man. While Ariza shooting 60% isn't sustainable, him going 1-12 or whatever he shot tonight is even more unsustainable so I'm confident he's going to bounce back next couple of games.
I don't have a problem with regression. 40% I'm very happy from Ariza. It's the inconsistency that is a bit troubling. The last two games have been horrific.
I wouldnt really worry about the last two games - the Spurs though undermanned schemed their defense to protect the 3 point line and not double on Dwight. If teams continue to do that it will be a 'pick your poison' type situation. Because of this scheme there weren't as many open looks in the half court. Last night without Dwight, Jones and Beverly the Warriors (again another great defensive team to start the season) had no reason to not to leave shooters and collapse. I dont expect Ariza to continue his amazing shooting once all the starters are back but if the start was an aberration - the last two games were as well. The longer Dwight and the other starters are out the worse Ariza's shooting will be as those shots will be less and less likely to be wide open
Normally I would agree but some of the shots he took were awful. Guy in his face, off balanced, and he didn't even hit iron or was close. And it wasn't like the shot clock was running down. I hope you are right.
Go back to Lakersground you pathetic POS. Talk when you win a game ****ing losers. Can't stand Lakers fans. ******* ego filled lunatics just like the god they worship, Kobe.
I remember my friend laker fan saying last year "I would rather have Lin than Howard. Howard sucks ". Well now you got your wish
This guy is beating out parsons right now and i am ecstatic about that. Ariza has a higher FG %, ppg, 3P%, REB, STL, and AST. They are both on a slump right now but to still see Ariza above Dallas Star player is priceless.
Ariza and Parsons will be compared all season statistically, but in the end, we all know defense wins championships. Ariza's defense and defensive influence in the team are untangibles that Parsons will never have.
I'm one of those idiots. Ariza IS a better player then parsons and yes we'll see how it plays out and who is a contributor to their team in the playoffs. *unless parsons is totally DNP-CD'd. which could happen.
what i dont like is not the regression of the pct but of the kinds of shots he took.... if i recall well most of them were not good 3pt shots, over the hands, well defended etc...
First 5 games of the season: 58% FG, 60% 3P, 17.6 ppg Next 5 games of the season: 33% FG, 21% 3P, 11.4 ppg Season average: Nearly identical to last season's average Classic case of a regression to the mean.
Ariza was huge. And somehow he rubbed off on Harden because Harden had some massive key blocks tonight.
