Wow is it really that much to ask to sing the country's national anthem? i guess that figures these days.. Everyone is all about themselves and not much else..in other countries the national anthem represents pride and here we are wondering why we have to hear it all the time, pretty pathetic
First of all, nice leap of logic, going from "some people aren't willing to sing the national anthem before every single random event" to "everyone's selfish these days". There are other ways to show altruism and community than overly saturated symbolic gestures. Second, as others have mentioned, maybe people would be more inclined to sing and feel pride when the national anthem is heard if it wasn't heard every 10 minutes and used as a prelude to things that have absolutely no relevance to it. Third, I haven't fact-checked this, but I think extremely few other countries are more "patriotic" than the US.
No doubt, and it's an old British pub song anyway. Needs to be sung with gusto and cheering. It's what we're all about in the end.
Some people just love wrapping themselves up in the flag and then run around being terrible to everyone who can't out-solemn them. Nothing new, just like this 25+ year Houston Rockets home court phenomenon. This guy has been around Houston so much of his life and this is his 1st Rockets game? Treasonous! Who cares, play ball.
It's really not that uncommon to do stuff like that at all. And this guy should stop being so sensitive.
Hes talking about something the ROCKETS PLAYERS did, not ROCKETS FANS. Not a big deal either way, but I love seeing people getting upset and going off about the Rockets red glare part. I actually think its corny as hell. "Rockets? They said Rockets? WOoOOoooOOO!!!" I know, im not big on wooing at everything. I also wait to see if anyone messes up when they get to that part because its silent and then you hear the rowdies scream "ROCKETS GET GLARE!!!" lol have yet to see it mess anybody up. They must be notified ahead of time that it would happen.
So what the hell is his point? He's offended? Just wait 5 seconds, there will be something else to be offended about.
People can be so uptight about the anthem. Get a grip. We stole a country from the natives and killed them. Lol.
Sad, sad ... Rockets are winning, and he's complaining about fans cheering??? He should stick to the Texans. Texans are pissing off their fan base. Wait ... is he still employed there?
We as fans only hear it every now and then .. can't imagine what it's like to sit through a minimum of 82 times a year,162 in baseball ... much respect for the song but that's gotta be torture .
He hasn't played against the Kansas City chiefs? I know at the stadium during the national anthem. When the part " and the home of the brave" comes the fans replace brave with chief!!!!
