The other night, on shark tank, Robert Herjavec made a salient point. He said, in response to the owner of a security tech company, who happened to also be a millionaire, that ingenuity could have been more prudent rather than capital to save his company: the more money you have, he said, the greater tendency to go down the rabbit hole into a money pit.

I can't help but think that Lebron is doing the same thing. Lebron, in this case, has all the capital in the world: he is the most skilled basketball player on the planet, but what he doesn't have is perspective.

Does the fact that he tells David Blatt what to do mean anything? Larry Brown had the same problem with AI, and this was Larry Brown.

Examples: He made sure that Kevin Love, Sideshow Bob and Mike Miller were signed, or traded for and put in the starting lineup.

Obviously it is early, but usually a person's best comes out of a friction between two opposing forces, a collaboration, and not with one person calling all the shots, because with unfetter restraint, there's noone with the balls to say no Lebron: where are the checks and balances?

Great point! Bron behaves like he is the owner, GM, coach and star player of the team. Not only does he make the team uncoachable, but Kyrie Irving follows suit. Kyrie seems to think that they brought Bron and Love over to be able to see from close what he does on the floor. That's exactly what they do. The whole team stands around and tries to figure out what Kyrie is planning to do.

The Blazers game in the 4th was so telling for me. Kyrie tried to play hero ball while Love was hot. That was the reason they lost. Lebron was a non-factor.

They got the wrong coach. Why get a rookie coach at this time? Get a veteran coach who everyone will listen to.

That plus Lebron seems to be tired of basketball already.

I wonder if LeBron will finish his career never having played for an elite coach.

If you only consider 3-4 coaches elite...then wouldn't that be 95% of players? Spoelstra is a great coach. Not to mention he has Pat Riley behind him.

Spoelstra couldn't put together an offense to save his life IMO. Miami scored in only these ways - LeBron scores or creates a shot for someone, Wade scores. That was it. Thoughout history great players and great coaches usually find each other. Hasn't been the case with LeBron.

Are you telling me you wouldn't want Love (versatile), Varejao (REB machine) and Miller (great influence in locker room, great player in Miami) on your team?

It's not like LeBron is getting random scrubs together, and by carrying them, proves the point that he "still has it."

And obviously, it IS still early. The chemistry isn't there yet. Kyrie and Love haven't played with a player like LeBron, nor have they had the pressure of being projected #1 and staying at #1.

Give them about 20 games total. If the problems are still there, then revisit this thread.

Blatt is by all reports pretty rough on them and LeBron is taking it fine. They will be fine, halfway through the season everyone will be ready to anoint them contenders again. I don't think their defense is good enough to take on the Western conference, but they will recover from this.

Are you posting this from the 2011 finals? Because Miami has had a motion offense and one of the better ones in the league since their loss to the Mavs.

Well they hired Blatt because he is very skilled at coaching guys with under the radar talent rather than guys that have all the talent in the world.

Blatt is a great coach but the situation is actually horrible for him. He has to deal with the LeDrama rather than coach basketball games.

What was the Heats record over their first 10 games with the big 3?

I imagine any new combination of major parts takes some time to gel
