I think its just Othella Harrington. I don't know why'd we want him back but I just can't think anyone else. ------------------ It doesn't matter if I have a signature!
I don't think it will be anyone that would interfere with the development of Taylor. The Rockets really like his game a lot and he's only getting better. I don't know who the hell it could be. I've been racking my brain, but I can't imagine the Rockets dealing for a guy that will take Mo's place or compete with him for the job. It would have to be a complimentary player - a guy who rebounds and plays defense but isn't much of a scorer. If Cato and Collier could both develop, that could be their relationship at the 5. Offense and defense both getting a shot at different times for different reasons. The league is going more to 10-man rotations anyway and Rudy has definitley expanded his view on rotations this year. ------------------ The way to use life is to do nothing through acting, The way to use life is to do everything through being. - Lao-Tzu

The breakdown quiz. 1) "A deal is going to go down." a) A trade is about to occur. b) Sam Mack is still on parole. 2) "Brace yourselves" a) Relax jerkfaces, it's not happening tonight. b) Reevaluate your definition (icon) of the Rockets, b/c it is about to change. 3) "May still be a week or more and some things still have to go down but a handshake deal is in place." a) The Rockets are a piece to a larger puzzle... a complete overhaul of an organization. b) CD was so charming that he got them to concede the Rockets' deal was the best on the table... but he'd give 'em another week to reconsider. 4) "It was implied to me who was in the deal but I can't say and I don't know all involved." a) Remember 1995? It's payback time. b) What other junk do we have to take on just to acquire Shareef? c) We're the condiment to someone else's meal. We do, however, get to eat the burnt fries. 5) "This is not the original deal discussed in this thread." a) It's not a young power forward. b) It's not a power forward. c) It's not the crap that Gabby the commentator was talking about. 6) "I retract all my comments previously in this thread..." a) Sorry I said the team isn't Dallas. b) Sorry I said it isn't Othella. c) Sorry I said it isn't Jerome. d) I'm outta here. Take the quiz to win! ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Magloire fits the initial description, but Houston doesn't have an extra 2/3 to give up for him. Neither Carlos or KT fills a Charlotte need. Perhaps some 3 team deal. I don't Know what the deal is Clutch but what i do know is that you just ruined my next week and a half of Christmas break. All we really know from what has been said is that Rudy loves Reef, Rudy loves Stromile, and Rudy loves Othella. I think it involves Vancouver and I think it will involve Walt who was held at of tonights game, Cato who has been held out of the two past games, a but load of picks, a couple more Rocket players and a whole lot more NBA players as it will net us that missing star that will get us over the hump and be one of the largest in NBA history. All Rockets trades are like this. ------------------
As usual, I have nothing constructive to add. As usual, that doesn't stop me. "Brace yourself" means something relatively big. Kiss good-bye some or all of those draft picks. Good! Who wants to bring in more need-to-be-groomed kids? (If I'm wrong, well, that's fine, too: the upcoming draft will be sooooo deep.) It's gonna be Vancouver. Read nbatalk.com/west and in the Vancouver papers, read Shareef's comments. He speaks like a man on his way out the door. Says he sees himself playing at the 4 in the future now that he's strong enough (but who knows? he can play 3 and 4, as far as we care). Vancouver needs vets. Houston needs to upgrade. Vancouver could use Hakeem to teach whatever center they draft for the next two years (before the franchise moves, say, to St. Louis: the Grizz are bleeding away $$$). And the Rox need to put together a more solid team and get some butts in those empty seats. We also have good "trade relations" with Vancouver. Dream with a BS injury. Wiz with BS flu. A problem with everything I've posted? What about Mo? Los? Detroit needs a scorer. Mo and Los are from Detroit. Maybe we could move Mo to a place where he'd want to be and not ruin our image in the league (trade for JYD? then keep JYD or move him on to Vancouver?) Besides, we might be leery of keeping Mo next year after the Joe Smith incident. (Big maybe here.) I wonder if players would avoid Vancouver if they knew the team can't stay there? Useless random thought #23: Would a team like Detroit play him at center, considering the suckfest of centers in the East? AAAUUUGGGHH, the waiting will drive me crazy! Sorry about all this, but the possibilities are exciting, even if it turns out to be "less major" than Hakeem/Walt/draft picks for Reef/BigAss Country/Thella. ------------------
As many know, I hate trade speculation. I wouldn't even be in this thread if I wasn't informed about Dallas from a respected source, not to say this is the same talks as tacoma mentions. Take it as you may. Also, know the only word I got was about Dallas. The actual traded players his from deduction from all the other known facts. I'm certainly not going to claim *any* reputation here. Clutch, you got confirmation from a Rocket's source. I assume you asked a direct question: "Is it Dallas"? Yet, this contact is sworn to secrecy, you said earlier...which I take as meaning even holding a secret from you (and the board) this time. hmmm. I'm just asking. I know your contact is very close to the Rockets. But this guy is coming from a Dallas angle, not Houston. You made it sound like your guy won't confirm anything to you this time. So if it is so tight lipped, why would your Rocket's source tell you the truth if you nailed the right team in a direct question. What could he say? "No comment." I honestly believe Clutch is right everytime. But this time, you could have asked the right question, and they might be dodging you. Again, I don't know for any more certainty that you. What can we do other than pass on the info. Anyhow, it sounds like a dead deal. And I hate trade speculation. I probably shouldn't have said anything. It is just rare for me to ever hear anything better than what Clutch can tell us, and it may never happen again. Cheers and have fun with it guys. I'll come back if I can and anything more.
I really cant believe the rockets would trade for a offense first(othella) PF being that we have 2 of those,I know O can rebound, but it still wouldnt make sense. The name that makes the most sense to me would be tony battie, plays defence, blocks shots, rebounds, but who knows with the rockets? Can anyone get a transcript? ------------------ "Instinctly u recognize things, now take advantage of what u just recognized!".. Hakeem..
Fine with me. I think Dickerson is at least the equal of Cuttino. Only problem is, I think he's kinda passive. I could picture him and Steve playing hot potato with the ball at crunch time. ------------------ "We don't have any plans. We just plan to win." Mack Brown
At least Dickerson doesn't jack up 30 foot fadeaway jumpers with plenty of time left while being quadruple-teamed. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Young, great rebounder, make an immediate impact? How about Brian Grant & Mason for Cato & Taylor? Miami needs a center & we need a SF. We replace Taylor with Grant & put Mason in at SF. Just kidding. I think the deal is going to be for Shareef or Garnett. Those are the only two players that I can think of that would be worth BRACING YOURSELVES FOR. Clutch, The player that was implied about, would it be a player that would cause a lot of excitement in Houston similar to the trades of Drexler, Barkley, & Pippen (before his brain fart)? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Hottoddie (edited January 07, 2001).]
gr8-1, What a trade like that would do is force Francis to accept the role of go to guy. ------------------
I don't think that's what Clutch means by "brace yourself." I think he means that believe it or not, there will be a trade. Come on guys, let's not set ourselves up for a letdown. I'd be happy to eat crow if it is Reef or KG. ------------------ "We don't have any plans. We just plan to win." Mack Brown
gr8-1, I was only referring to that comment, because he put it immediately after highlighting in bold type that a deal was going to go down. It struck me, as saying the same thing twice or putting extra emphasis on the player that was implied about, possibly being a superstar. Just my opinion though. ------------------
