This is really cool and I hope the game succeeds. Am a big fan of Wing Commander, Freelancer, Privateer etc. type games.

DD, can you comment on the overall gameplay and scale/scope of the universe?

    • What's the rough size of the universe (planets/stars) and number of ships/space stations you guys are having planned by launch?
    • From what I read, it's an open-ended sandbox. Will it be instanced from waypoints to waypoints or is the universe seamless?
    • Will players have the option of spending their time just colonizing, trade, and resource farming and how big a part of the game are they?
    • Lastly, how open-ended is PvP (flags, criminal system, level restrictions?) and how big a part of the game is it relative to PvE?

I read you can board and raid enemy ships (fights on deck, etc.). That is insane! Huge capital ships and flak cannon fights await I hope. I'm personally hoping it plays less like a FPS and more like EVE Online.

Messed around with it some. Rough and not optimized (as expected...or actually was not as bad as I expected), but looking good so far. Really happy with the progress. Didn't have much of a problem downloading the module or getting setup either (good job with the distribution it seems).

Only got one crash, although it is the first time I've seen the BSoD with Windows 8 (sad face indeed :().

Bumping this thread in honor of the Hornet commercial and brochure FINALLY getting released! Awesome commercial, and glad to see the variants. Wish there was a bit more description on the particulars of the Hornet variants, but I'm not too upset about it. Already upgraded to the Super Hornet, now as long as my laptop can run the game when it's released, I'll be set. It runs the hangar with no problem, but I know that's a very rough build of the final product (no matter how nice it looks!). Anyway, nice work all around!

Thanks guys, the game is coming along great, though the scope is massive.

Hopefully we are still working on this game 10 years from now adding more star systems, and lore, and missions - it has been an incredible ride so far, it is hair on fire stuff, but very rewarding.

And Chow - didn't you see the webshow, Wingman's hangar? I did 72 episodes for Star citizen - you can check it out on YouTube, it basically chronicles the first 18 months of the project, but got bumped so the messaging could be done from our HQ in LA, and my responsibilities ramp up on the PU.

Here was our final show - sort of a recap of everything.

Between the ships and the peripherals (physical items, hangar and other in-game stuff, etc.) I've dropped $500 on this game. And I'm still going to have to build a system that's going to run this beast! I don't care though. I've been waiting for Roberts to put out another space game for years and if my bucks help make it happen I'll open up the wallet.

Aye, I've spent more than my meager pay should allow for, but this game has me so damn excited.

I also got my boss to pledge, haha. What I'm most forward to are the multi-crew ships to go live in Arena Commander. That's what really drives my imagination.

I just woke up from a nap and saw you're no longer with CIG, DD. It sucks you had to leave, but I hope your next project goes well!

    Out of curiousity,

How many ships do you have in your hangar?

He was asked to move from Austin to Santa Monica as roles from the different studios changed. He decided to keep his family in Austin.
