Spurs are built to withstand playoff series but they are vulnerable in the regular season against top playoff teams. So there are chances. They are also more injury prone than a lot of guys think and Pop is holding them together. He is their glue.
My worst fear is that we're seeing the Houston Texans of Houston basketball ... let's play some real teams before we crown these guys. They may not be what some of us think they are.
4-0 you mean. The starters are doing great but this stretch will definitely allow us a better view of where our bench stands. This will also show us if whether or not Tjones is going to stay a Rocket.
I don't think you can ever say, for any reason, that the 7th game of an 82 game season is a must win.
Good teams take care of business against bad teams. Have the Rockets proven that they are a legit title contender? No. Not yet. But they have done exactly what they have needed to do and have looked good doing it.
Rockets are doing better against the weaker teams than supposed contenders like the Clippers and Mavs.
Who cares? Last year we would have dropped one or two of these scrub games. Now we're winning every one by double digits. Tomorrow shall be interesting.
The supposed contenders like Clips and Mavs could look worse agianst weaker teams. At the end of the day it evens out.
we alsow on them with howard not anywhere near 100% and harden shooting below 40fg%. great start to the season, but we need h&h to bring their a game. the lottery team stretch is over
Agreed, but I still got my jollies from defeating LAL, Utah, & Boston in the first 3 games. That those teams suck now actually increases my joy. And tonight I'm happy we have 3 road wins...
Am I the only one who isn't satisfied with our lack of offensive improvement coaching-wise? The results look good because Harden is killing it, but what sets are we running? I'm not seeing any hawk-action or zipper cuts or any sign of added sophistication in our offense. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome how much our defense has improved with Ariza and Harden's individual improvements, plus it looks like Terrence defense has improved too unless I'm mistaken. Is it wrong to want some coaching improvement too, or am I asking for too much?
Crappy teams or not, at least we are handling our business with such teams as opposed to previous years in which we tended to "play down" to the competition.
Any NBA team can wax the floor on any given night. The way our Rockets was set up last year, we would've choked away one of these games regardless of how good the opponent was. What I'm seeing this year is a more tough minded, grind it out style of play team that will translate to playoff success. It all starts with defense. None of that small ball, no defense, outscore your opponents BS.
So far we have 4 big wins against 4 bad teams (although Boston looks to be much improved). No reason to believe we will look horrible against the good teams. I'd call us the favorite against Miami, and it's a toss up against GS and SA. Actually GS doesn't look too bad, since we have Beverly (hopefully) on Curry and Ariza on Thompson - that's a pretty nice matchup for us. So far, I am hopeful - and of course this roster isn't done. It will get real interesting at the trade deadline...
Clippers played crappy teams too, and looked utterly pathetic, while we've blown crappy teams out, like champs are supposed to.
