Yes, I'm sure everyone here who's not overreacting to the video is ready to justify rape. After all, there's really no real difference between crude language and violent sexual assault.

    Sticks and stones.

Catcalling is not rape. Honestly if a woman dresses a certain way she should expect attention. Just like if you walk around in a duck suit you should expect attention.

As kids everyone is usually taught that words are words and if you don't like what people say you ignore it and move on.

Real life ain't the movies where thin, wispy women kick the crap out of burly dudes. It can make a little bit of a difference, but if a guy with size, strength, and even a little fighting ability wants to take a woman out, he can.

teach them how to use a weapon (taser, mace since they are 15). Does that even need to be taught?

Yeah, but real life ain't a Bronson flick or a Hunter episode either, most guys are as terrified of being seen as dangerous as women are of being raped. Guys slow their place when unintentionally following someone and avert eye contact more often assumed.

Psychologically, yes; learning that mentality is probably the ultimate benefit of self-defense classes.

Even if that vid was a joke, cross dressers and transgender people do have it way worse. They get harassed from both men and women just because they look different. Live and let live, right?

    ^Learn to avoid groups altogether.

Doesn't matter if the group consists of males, females, or both.

Can't trust how courageous idiots get while backed by groupthink.

Self-defense is more than just learning to fight. If you have to fight you've actually missed lost a lot of self-defense. Any good self-defense teaching includes awareness and avoidance. Also confidence also plays a big role. People looking to sexual harass others aren't looking for a fight but want to find the easiest victim. So yes most men could probably defeat most women but a predator is going to want an easy target not someone who they think will make things difficult.

Also just to add while cat calling is crude and annoying as others noted for the most part it isn't going to lead to physical violence. While I agree that men should behave better we need to be careful equating such behavior with rape or even physical harassment.

Women DO HAVE a CHOICE to wear regular/homely clothes that will make them appear "regular" while still being feminine. For the most part, guys do not wear attire that is tightly fit to accentuate their body. Guys just put on drab stuff and go about their business.

But WOMEN DON'T. I just left the grocery store, and I'd say 1/2 the females there were wearing something slightly revealing, in various forms. Yoga pants seemed as common as socks.

Maybe its me, but seeing hot pink and orange striped tight lycra pants with BOOTS doesnt come across as "she just got out the gym" or "she's an expert yogi". I do NOT EXPECT that kinda clothing. She made it hard to NOT look. That girl coulda just put on a regular pair of pants to stay in the field of safe blandness, it didnt have to be Muslim veils, burqas, and hijabs.

Does that mean that its appropriate to perv on a woman at the appearance of any clothing even slightly tight or revealing? NO. I don't "holla" at females. But there's enough women that blur the lines just a LITTLE bit in how they go out, enough where it makes you wonder if they've ever gotten any harrassing solicitations at all.

This is actually spot on. The times in life I've been assaulted/stabbed was by assailants in a group under 30 years of age. They're most dangerous when hanging out or after having a few alcoholic drinks.

A person regardless of gender identity should wear whatever they want wherever they want in public. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that in real life. A friend was about to be in a dangerous situation with one of these groups. They picked on him based on his appearance; having a CCW saved him from severe injury or death. I thought taking a self defense/martial arts class would be sufficient, however a firearm really is a quick and effective deterrent in close-quarters combat.
