To be fair, there was no one available to be his "ride or die". If I'm wrong, please point that man out. This year's QB rookie crop is garbage. What were the free agent options? Mallett looked terrible every time he got on the field in preseason in New England. Savage was godawful in preseason for us. Unless you're advocating for a pure tank job. But if you're suggesting to win, Fitzpatrick was a bad choice, I'd like to know... compared to who? Who did we have a shot at getting that is any better?
I thought that too, but this post on BRB at least has me hopeful and I want to see what he can do with real receivers. http://www.battleredblog.com/2014/9/3/6100837/the-film-room-ryan-mallett-houston-we-have-a-monster
Yeah, now they do. Before the 2-14 season they didn't...but now they do. JJo is older, Andre is older, Cushing is older and hurt... The Oline is still being rebuilt. We have no ILB We have no one else to rush the passer. We have no stable safety... Yes, this is a bad team on paper. Foster and Watt have held this team up and we better be happy if we get out of this seasosn with a healthy Watt and hope that Foster has another good year in him or so (but he's breaking down too it seems)
incredibly weak Schedule Some of these games are lost . . where one or 2 smart plays win the game but the coaching did not make those plays Dallas and Pittsburg were very beatable winnable games our coaching did not come through Rocket River
I said 7-9 and the only reason we would come UP to that is the weak schedule. I don't think a lot of people realize just how weak this roster is.
Didn't see the game; still waiting for Mallet to start. I say let's find out what he has. Not like the Texans are a playoff team. What's to lose but more games? They have lost five out of nine already. Mallet has never had a chance. Fitzpatrick has accumulated ten years of evidence that he is sub par. I don't see a huge risk here.
In this forum must people put them between 6-7 wins, as I recall. That's likely where they'll finish. They are who we thought they are. The names that sound good on paper are diminished. Watt and Foster are incredible. Outside of that, there isn't a whole lot to get excited about.
And most people were not expecting this sort of season from Foster... in fact, most were applauding the other RB's in the pre-season, and suggesting that Foster had lost his job. I thought the talent decline was very evident to start last season... especially on the defensive side (which predictably bottomed out along with the rest of the team). A lot of missed round 2-4 picks will do that to any team.
