I agree with you on public recording. They say in the heyday of Stalinism, 1 in 10 people was an informant. Can you imagine if they had all had cell phones too?

But still, people don't usually whip out their phones unless you're doing something dumb, or you look like you might be a celebrity.

Obviously the guy was in the wrong, BUT 2 wrongs don't make a right. Even if he was already causing a scene, you have to be more aware of that fact that you're recording a man that obviously has issues and he's looking right at you. That doesn't seem like a smart move, IMO. When the man comes over and basically motions to get the phone out of his face, the guy brings it back up, almost like he's trying to be funny and/or take a quick picture. Once someone comes up to you like that, that's your cue to put the phone away, unless you want to escalate things. Again, not a smart move. then he comes up right to him (after again recording him), when he's talking to the guy in the hat...again, not very smart.

The scuffle could have been avoided if he just left the man alone and waited for security.

And there's 2 guys wearing pink shirts, so that makes comments confusing :p

I normally would not read too much into it
but of recent there are a punch of PUNKED kind of things on the internet
where people are being complete assholes and then record people's reactions

Yeah, i didn't get that vibe..i think the guy in pink just thought he'd record it to make an example out of him (if he himself was actually being harassed at that point), or was just being a facebook paparazzi. Either way, it's a dangerous situation to be in. The angry guy could have just sucker punched him and caused much more damage to him.

It barely looks like Rudd and, if it did, then it was him back in 1995 or something.

That whole thing seemed pretty dumb.

I could understand it if that dude did something like "dat dude took err jobs" or something but it appeared to be more like "dat dude took err photo and i'm high".

They've probably got protocol or just an understandable aversion to extra paperwork.

Honestly "redneck" seems a little hypocritical especially with Ray Krebbs trying to talk him down and then regulating. Also this seems less about gay tolerance than about keeping someone from attacking an old man.

I'm surprised they were so slow to intervene. The guy taking off his jacket should have been the cue for security to come talk to the guy and diffuse the situation before someone gets kicked in the nads.

For some reason I get the feeling they were curious to see where it would go before taking (late) action.

I agree wholeheartedly, but it is just strange to me that a grown man would wake up one morning and say today is a swell day to wear a pink shirt. And in public to make matters worse.

IF someone attacks you, verbally or physically, don't you want to record the action for evidence?

It wasn't physical at the time, just verbal.

The pink shirt guy escalated it by recording. He had ample opportunities to walk away. The cowboy hat guy tried to diffuse the situation, but pink shirt guy kept recording.
