Yes, it is very close to a must win. You do not want to lose a bad Lakers team on the TNT during the opening day evening.

Ed Davis is the backup center. He's actually looked very good in the preseason. He's the only shot-blocker on the team. He and Lin have looked very good together (Davis is very much a "Tyson Chandler" type player) and so much so that many are convinced Lin should come off the bench--because of his synergy with the second unit, in particular Davis. Davis should start over Hill...and before the year is out he probably will.

This game is a non-story. The media is drumming it up with A vs B, ect. This is a Houston Rockets team with Championship aspirations vs a team that's going to be looking to score it big in the lottery. Nothing more, nothing less.

What's not to be missed. Don't forget the baseline airball during the playoffs. I know many players do that, but I found that hilarious.

If history tries to repeat itself, the game somehow ends up close and the Lakers need a three to win the game, we can all be comforted by the fact that the Miami Heat game might repeat itself if Lin gets the ball for the three.

Yes, season opener after pretty big changes during off season, against one of the few weaker teams in the West.

No, he questioned why it's a "must-win"... when it reality it should be an EZ win.

OK, we can lose this one. You guys happy now?

Why isn't an easy win a must win for the opener of a team with high expectation?

I said it's a must win AND a sure win in my original post.

Kind of off topic but have you guys seen that KD Harden commercial for BBVA Bank? Surprised there's no thread on this

because no matter what happens the first game of the seasons doesn't define anything..its just the start of a long season where so much can happen

I thought the West is so competitive, and one or two games difference can decide home court. I thought we have talked about closing winnable games for years.

    Never mind.

Doesn't define anything? This is a game for a bad Lakers, it define lots of things. If a loss coming from the team like Spurs, then it will be a different story.

you know how many teams just start out the season hot for a few games and then fade away and vice versa. once you hit about the 1/3 of the way through the season you can start to see who teams really are. it eventually evens out.

If the rockets are going to lose the Lakers this Tuesday, then just stop talking about anything to win a title or pass the first round. It is that simple. Of course, we can add new players or coach after the loss.

Need to watch out for a scrub that goes off. We typically get burned by those guys who fly under the radar. Don't know what it is that makes them elevate their game against us, but it happens way too often.

85-88 with ten seconds left ....

Lin doesnt pass the ball to kobe and shoot and makes it to go to overtime ! But his foot touch the line and we win

Kobe confronts lin and lin snaps

Think LA is going to implode this season. Players are going to turn on each other. Lin is going to struggle and get benched. And Kobe will continue to jack up 50 shots per game. Kobe Bryant has led a once proud respectable franchise into a dark dark self centered place. His owner broke the bank on him. His GM has lost his mind, and cant put together a respectable team. He even has his head coach spewing out venom.
